Solitaire voiced an opinion I have heard many times in the UK. People see the incidence of gun crime in the USA and they are genuinely worried about the gun culture. This is not an argument about gun control simply a statement of the impression it makes on the psyche of people in other countries.

btw even Forbes (not known as a rabid gun control agitation site ) quotes figures from inmates in state prisons serving sentences for gun crimes affirming that over 60% of their guns were obtained legally with less than 40% procured illegally.

When people see mass shootings in schools and almost daily (it seems) reports of fatalities from guns in the USA it is bound to make an impression. South Africa, Haiti, Colombia, Mexico all suffer from the same impression. It may not impinge on people in the US but it certainly resonates elsewhere.
