Saddam was a Good Guy, then became a Bad Guy.
Ghaddafi was Bad Guy, then a Good Guy, and then a Bad Guy again.

I have no doubt the US will anoint Assad as a Good Guy at some point.

Given what the US did to Iran in supporting the Shah, their displeasure was understandable.

The US encouraged Saddam to attack Iran resulting in the pointless deaths of hundreds of thousands.

That's the problem with supporting bad guys. They kill a lot of people.

Look at East Timor as another example.

To my everlasting shame, Canada was with the US in backing the Indonesian military on that one.
