The "Projecting Change on the Empire State Building" initiative was designed to raise awareness about the plight of endangered animals and was billed as a first of its kind. An image of Cecil the lion, whose killing has sparked international outrage, was prime among animals whose pictures covered 33 floors of the southern face of one of the world's most famous landmarks in an eight-minute video loop. New Yorkers from as far as 20 blocks away snapped pictures of the building as it lit up the nighttime sky over a steamy Manhattan.   |

I'm not into trophy hunting at all. I will only hunt or cage trap rabbits and goats for the meat. Once enough meat, that's it. I dont pull the trigger or trap any more. I dont understand why anyone wants to kill a big animal and not use it, just a head on a wall. Bit gross to me, but it's been going on for years and not many people blinked. For some reason the death of this one lion has upset everyone. Heaps of white rhino, elephants and other rare animals are killed regularly. What about all the children that die of starvation or neglect daily? I think that is really the outrage. A well known animal is killed and there's outrage, if thousands of them died would we just go quiet and forget them like we seem to have forgotten the children perishing? Judgment Day will be interesting - and all paths lead there.

hermitinthecity. Thanks for stopping by the blog of mine. While appreciating what you have posted here on my blog page, I feel like telling you that I dislike those who hunt for fun and sport. I do not mind for hunting rabbits and goats for the meat. However, this one lion represents one of the most endangered species still living in this world. I am glad that this senseless killing has made majority of us upset. Hermit, you will surely agree with me that we humans are only responsible for the children that die of starvation as well as of neglect daily! We are constantly failing to take positive steps to save these unfortunate children. That, however, should not prevent us from being upset for the senseless killing of this majestic endangered animal Have a nice time.

Another reason I do that is that I dont like to see any animal suffer and a clean hit is paramount to me. Also I dont take 'long shots' when hunting, if I'm not 100% sure, I'll wait till I am. That's just me though. I know there are many out there who dont care and are heartless. Just the world we are in.Judgment Day will be interesting - and all paths lead there.

By the way I'm glad you posted. Maybe some good will come out of this whole drama by having rare animals more noticed and protected areas getting some extra or extended off limit areas around them if that's a problem. Also luring an animal out of the parks should be banned, that's just wrong, but I dont know if they did. I wonder how many fillings and dentures it took to get poor Cecil? Hmm. Judgment Day will be interesting - and all paths lead there.

It's about "endangered" animals, not terrorists or abortions. A pet is the owner's responsibility. I seriously doubt a neighbor would lure someones pet into their yard to do it harm. If a pet owner values the pet it will be on a leash, fenced in, kept inside or in the presence of the owner - not roaming the neighborhood.

Mary Ann, I am happy to read you here again. I have studied your comments on Hermit's post here on above with much Interest. My intention behind pasting the news item on the blog was only to let all know the latest update of the brutal killing that has made many of us truly upset. True, I have followed up the matter after I posted my first blog on Cecil, the unfortunate lion, the victim of a senseless killing orgy. Thanks once again for your stopping by the blog and for leaving such thoughtful comments that might finally do some good to human children as well as the endangered animals. I am sorry for delay to respond. This happened as I was indisposed. Hope you are keeping well.Regards.

Let us not guess anything! No permit was issued to the dentist to kill Cecil - the lion. The Zimbabwean Police is also reportedly looking for the dentist for the crime. This dentist had also reportedly killed an Elk. However, I have no problem with your opinion on the matter as you are entitled for it.

Each one of them should be punished for the crimes committed. Ask them why the beheaded victims of ISIS are not being shown on Empire State Building! You must fight for the causes of aborted babies and for the pet killed by an irate neighbor! I see no wrong in such fights. However, we must not try to justify one wrong by comparing it with another wrong! May I also draw your kind attention to the comments of 'hobsonschoice" left on her post in this respect?
