Do They Speak Thousand Words... .....

Do the three pictures appended speak anything to us? We know that a picture is worth a thousand words! Are images just a mixture of colors caught on paper or screen? Do they stir and evoke raw emotions inside of us?

Good morning Look - I think images can evoke emotions depending on content and how presented. For example I quite like the sepia tones, lighting and composition (?) in first photo which I find atmospheric and almost tangible in that I can almost feel the damp air and sunshine as a solitary figure goes about his business on the empty, partially sunbathed street. Hope that makes sense :- )

Hi Look: Whether I like a photo or not, I stare at it for about a minute and analyze what I might not have seen right away. I took an interesting course in photo analysis years ago. Even analyzing a photograph of two or more people it's surprising what you can see there.

In the top photo, although the sun is shining everywhere else, that street is in total shade. I wonder how a person would feel sitting on their balcony knowing everyone in the building right across the street could see them at such close range, and everyone would have to keep their curtains closed all the time or the neighbours could see right in their windows. All the buildings appear to be painted the same colour, so I wonder what country or city that is. I wonder what that man has on his cart and where did he come from as there is no delivery truck around. Things like that.

Good Afternoon Lilium. Thanks for the analytical post that you have left here for us to read and appreciate. You are absolutely correct.
You comments makes me nostalgic most of the times. I can recollect those days when I used to go out with my Box Camera early in the morning. Have a nice day!

Bijou. hello.
Thanks for your stopping by my post and viewing the pictures.
I appreciate. Perhaps, your analytical capabilities may find many things in these three pictures missing yet I feel great that at least you have viewed them. The way you have analyzed the top one, I can only term it as amazing! I like the bottom one because it can be analyzed even by a person like me!! Thanks once again for your comments. Have a wonderful time!

Hello Mrs.Joe,
Yes, whether a picture speaks anything to him or not depends on the viewer. The person who shot the picture could only tell us what made him to take it. It is also correct to say that a viewer may just glance at a picture and enjoy it. It may also happen that a viewer may hear it talk to him! You may not be sure about the thousand words but one word may be sufficient for you to understand what it wants to tell you. Have a nice tomorrow!

Mary Ann,
Your post has simply made me thoughtful! You have read so much in this particular Photo that can not be imagined by someone who is incapable of analyzing such photo!! May I suggest you to transfer your ideas to some other medium so that readers could appreciate your talent? Hope to read more from you in future too. True, Pictures could tell us many things if we could read those things!! Have a nice week.

One could analyze a picture, but to me, the important thing is how it makes me feel. Some photos excite me just looking at them. They make me happy. I bought a painting in Venice from a local artist, because of the way her drawing hit me. There was a recent post by Lucy that had spectacular pictures, probably the nicest I've seen. Black and white, day versus night, all affect our perception of what we're seeing. Thanks for this interesting blog, LookLook.

Elaine Shuel.
Thanks for stopping by my blog and also for leaving your comments there on. I appreciate. Noted that some pictures make you happy. It is not abnormal at all. What kind of picture excites you has not been mentioned. Let me quote Andy Warhol,“I never read. I just look at pictures,” and to paraphrase Gandhi, you have two eyes and only one mouth for a reason. Have a nice time.

There isn't any "kind" of picture that excites me. It can be people, scenery, anything that just hits me the right way. I don't like to limit my options.

Much pleased to learn that you consider the last one as best. At least someone, who could read things better than me, agreed with me. Rubi, appending just for you to read and ponder upon the four lines not written by me!!
"We are nothing,
Nothing but the footprints
Of our Creator,
On His golden beach".
Have a wonderful week, Rubi.
