I'm a gun owner and against gun control. I would rather see laws passed to control people.

Every time there's a mass shooting politicians feel a need to act, a need do something, a need to say something, even if it's only to justify drawing their pay checks.

The fact is there are plenty of people who aren't mentally stable enough to own guns. And it looks to me like there are plenty of people who aren't even mentally stable enough to have internet.

So here's a thought ... where might gun control begin? How about with a self proclaimed online racist/bigot? What do you think?

I don't know how you managed to convert a blog about white supremacy into one about gun control and evil bloggers but I guess that is how your mind works. Are you really Jiminy?

Interesting post. I prefer the word predominant over supremacy. I am also a gun owner but I think there should be a form of gun control, a privilege per say, the right to bear arms is a special right granted to a person or group who know what a firearm is and how to use it safely. Up here in Canada we have authorization to transport (A.T.T.) a restricted firearm (hand gun) from home to a registered Gun Range only. I would like to see authorization to carry (A.T.C.) when camping or hiking in wilderness areas, not in National or Provincial parks though, we have Conservation Officers(Park Rangers/Wardens, Fish and Wildlife Officers, Rangers in the Arctic, etc).

I suppose you are responding to Dusty/Jiminy so let me think about this a moment. The toughest gun control laws in the USA are in the City of Chicago, IL. Chicago is also a consistent champion in the race to become the murder capital of the Nation. This simply proves that tougher gun laws don't necessarily convert to lower crime rates. In fact, it usually means the opposite.

The difference is that if someone is an online racist/bigot - that is their opinion and they may be hurting someone's feeling but the person has a choice to react or simply ignore them. When a person decides to use a gun to do harm, that is a crime.

When a person decides to use a gun for anything other than its intended purpose it is a crime, isn't it? Hunting, sport hooting and self-defense come to mind. You don't have to be a racist or a bigot to commit an illegal act.

Sport "hooting" is a West Virginia past-time, in case you are not familiar with the term.

Cars totally ignore stop lights ... and many people ignore laws passed to control people.

A glimmer of wisdom Fossil?

Perhaps a brief lesson in "Constitutional Rights" is in order. Buy a book.

Here's your brief lesson.

Not every US Citizen has the "Constitutional Right" to own a gun. And it's based on anti-social behavior.

Fossil_Fetcher replies on 11/15/2017 10:56 am:
Actually, it is based on the law.

And you should still buy a book.
