You can drop a bomb on a country, bit hard to drop a bomb on a religion. The question is how do you stop it? Outlaw it?

In this case, aren't we talking about a country, Iran? The Islamic terrorist problem is a whole other thing. Puzzles has some good points, but as you point out, our borders are not secure at all.
BTW, I'm sure you have seen the pictures of those cities in Japan today? Beautiful cities!

What you have here is a military example of choosing the action that will be for the greater good, accepting responsibility for the fact that there will be collateral damage and making personal sacrifice for others. . I see our current social structure as being too self centered to consider this. From my limited perspective I see our current society as too selfish to sacrifice and too unwilling to accept responsibility for anything others see as negative.
