Chatroom Problems Anti-American??? Copyright. April 13, 2009. PrairieSky Chat Room Problems Anti-American??? As many members here know, there has been, for some time now, a rather sinister type of unrest amongst chatters and bloggers on this site. I have no idea how this situation started but as a 10 + year member and as an outsider looking in, I’ve studied the fighting part of it like a seismologist would study an earthquake that threateningly rumbles and erupts over and over again. This last eruption, in my opinion has been the most severe and I even wonder if it has created the beginning of the fall of this particular chat room civilization. What disturbs me the most is that I’ve seen a battle for CONTROL from BOTH sides of the picture. I never see anyone sitting down and discussing a possible COMPROMISE or any effort to somehow settle this lengthy brawl in an orderly and mature fashion. Unless this can be done, this will go on forever. I regard some of what I see in this fight as downright anti-American. I’m not an American but I’ve heard all my life that like Canada, America is a proud country of free people who enjoy the right to express their opinions (whether they be bad or good) without getting thrown in jail or exiled from the country or stripped of their hard-earned badges of honour. What I see in this little chat world are people expressing opinions and getting pounced on, reported to authorities and thrown out of their chat rooms. However, I don’t see this part happening on both sides. The punishment is coming only from ONE side. This looks very bad for this chat site that originates in the very country that houses people who love their right to free speech. It makes one think of countries who try to control their population with distasteful operations such as the Gestapo who exercised what they called ‘a cleansing’ or the KGB who watched over the population like ‘big brother’ or the Taliban who drives around terrorizing and beating the ankles of women who dare to show them below their burqas or the backs of men who dare to have their beards a little shorter than their moral law allows. This type of operation leaves a bad taste in everyone’s mouth and only adds more powerful tremors to the earthquake. The Gestapo and the KGB both fell, thank goodness and I’m sure most in North America hope it’s the end of that type of control forever… but no…there are and likely always will be people on this earth with ‘stalker mentality’ who have the need to control others. My gosh, if Bush got every person banned that called him names and accused him of all sorts of terrible things, there would not be very many people left in America. It would no longer BE a free America. Unfortunately that is exactly what I see happening here on this chat and blogging site. I don’t see a lot of people left in the chat room. I don’t see a FREE chat site. I was never a Bush fan but I do have to give him credit for one thing. It takes a very big person to be able to walk away from or turn their head away from someone who is saying bad things to and about them. Goodness knows he had people slandering him all the time! Bullying and lashing out uncontrollably are signs of naivety, insecurity, lack of control and lack of basic values. Whatever happened to “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”??? Lashing out only because the other side lashes out makes no sense to me. Letting the other side lash out all by themselves and making themselves look small in the process makes a lot more sense. I personally would resent being ‘watched’ by big brother, just as ‘big brother’ would resent being ‘watched’ by me day in and day out, whether it is in a country or in something so trivial as a chat room. (After all, this chat room, trivial as it may seem is a Godsend for many people who are challenged in some way or just lonely.) I would regard it as a threat to my freedom. If people express their opinions WITHOUT using vulgar language or harmful threats, there is no need to exile them. I think this site and the parties involved in the fighting should ALL remember that!!! (Other questions might be raised here…like who makes the final decision to ban someone? Is it the owners of the site? Who ARE the owners of the site? Do any chat room members work for the site or do they own any part of this site? However, that could be another blog up the road.) I know that writing this blog makes me feel better for venting, but I also know that what I think and believe may not be what the next person thinks and believes. At least I know this and will make allowances for it in my life. I will live a more peaceful life because of it. I can’t and won’t try to control others. I love my country. I love my freedom. Hi Prairie as far as the current crop of combatants goes depends on the thickness of ones skin. The ones who do the banning have a very thin epidermis. They dont know this condition exists because they never look at themselves in a mirror. They remind me of Deputy Barney Fife on the Andy Griffin Show. Barney would arrest every citizen in Mayberry for the most trivial of offenses if it were not for Sheriff Andy to temper his enthusiasm toward law enforcement. The ones doing the banning have no Sheriff Andy that would tell them whats trivial and whats important.......... .......Could this be the reason they run trivia on sunday night? PS..so well written, covering all that has erupted in here..sad to say,,things wont change till SFF gets a monitor (not in favour)or a closer look at those who feel they own this once great chat room..sadly..have left the chat, was my means of helping where I could. Again thanxxx..

PS: EXCELLENT Blog-Message! I can't help but wonder (but not for very long/I conserve my energy - No Joke!) --- what's the point of bad-rapping one another? What's to be gained by doing that? Fact is --- that most folks 'do' what they do for some sort of 'pay-off'. Simplistic Example: Three weeks ago, day following my first eye surgery, I needed to have my post-operative eye exam done by a young woman physician, a French-Canadian, who wasn't comfortable talking with an 'older' woman (me) - a life-long resident of the USA. I wasn't thrilled about how our communication went that day - but had a 'sense' that something other than the eye exam could be reason for the "discomfit" (NOT 'discomfort') going on. At end of examination, I wanted to go home and rest "my outlook" (recently operated eye -  I didn't give it much thought.HOWEVER, two days ago, another post-operative examination was necessary after my 2nd Eye Surgery - and Uh-Oh! ... same young French-Canadian woman physician was there and I had no choice but to have her do the exam. At first, I groaned (inwardly) - BUT, 2 minutes before the young woman physician came into the exam room, an ophth-technician had helped me to learn how to pronounce the physician's name correctly. So that, when she entered the room I was able to greet her in a way that 'defused' some of the awkwardness I had been feeling (or rather, perhaps SHE had also been feeling?? - who knows? doesn't matter!). At time of exam two days ago, she needed to give me pretty much BAD NEWS - or at least, not wonderfully 'good' news. Her discomfort was evident - but I didn't yet know the reason, UNTIL . . . she needed to use a special dye-product for part of the exam. She used a "lay-person's" term, and when I reflexively used the technical term/word for the same thing - she spoke with a *smile* in her voice --- she realized that I had some health matters/medical knowledge. She relaxed even more; spoke with more 'ease'. Trying to make this short true-story a bit short-ER, as the exam was completed, I spoke just one word to her in 'proper' French; not 'TOO friendly', but in the 'polite' way that people not well-acquainted would say to one another. Because of our considerable age-difference, she then responded with just the 'right' tone of voice and response that she had learned from her gr'mere. (BTW - I've forgotten most of my former knowledge of a few words/phrases in French - much less, in French-Canadian.) Tension eased immediately. Doesn't matter who did what and/or why --- BUT, what did/does matter is, that we didn't 'carry over' our discomfort from 3 weeks earlier. We (literally) left the past - IN THE PAST! Words are powerful! 'Tone' of our words is powerful. PS: I applaud the blog-message you've written and posted! Hi PS You have expressed so well what many of us think .. bottom line for me is simple. It is more important for me to keep the peace than be right. Especially regarding things that are so trivial in the greater scheme of things. Thanks again for writing this, I only wish that all concerned would read it and really think about it.

Sadly , while stating your opinion I see so much of the propaganda that has been inserted into the minds of so many , I am not gong to rehash everything but I will briefly touch on a few things .. I wasn't here when the first feud began , altho it seems they have somehow been lumped together , however , I was here for the next and from the beginning asked those involved to ..STOP IT ..I was told by the male that ..*He would never stop , as it was his job to run the ugly kids from the playground * When he was condoned and egged on with applause I pleaded with his friends to just say ..STOP IT ..nobody would altho they'd scream nasty things at the woman involved . Things escalated , another man started telling people in cat that they must * make sure ...she is ignored and not allowed to make friends , lest she gain credibility * There has been a vendetta against this woman and many have helped create it . As they tried to ruin her and run her off they got nastier and nastier many chat and blogs were dominated by those intent on destroying her . Some got banned , including some of those who are referred to as the fab4 , some continued the vendetta until they were permanently banned all the while claiming innocence , Many still get banned , because they continue the abuse , nobody works at SFF nor is related , SFF abuse teams base their banning on facts , not fabrication , they have the archives to back up what anyone reports , Take another look at those who claim they are banned for no reason , you will find the reason , without doubt . It sickens me to see so many people buy into such propaganda , you want further details and proof of what I say , just ask .. I do not mean to say nobody gets reported , yes they do get reported ..FOR ABUSE ..just as I am reported , and others too by the other side . TOO BAD FAIRNESS HAS NEVER BEEN AN OPTION FOR MANY IN SFF ..AND YET THEY SCREAM ...UNFAIR .. I state FACTS .. not propaganda ..believe what you wish but be sure some of us know the truth .

All I can say is I long for the good old days when the worst that happened in the room was a foul mouth guest that we either ran off or ignored. I applaud all who are trying for "Peace" - it's my hope that I see it in my lifetime. In the meantime I thing refraining from banning and using the iggy is a viable option. I don't fight in the chat room cuz if there is a trouble maker in the room he automatically hits the sin bin... I don't care who his/her wrath is directed too. Hello PS Very nice & written blog, You know I always enjoyed chatting with you in the "war room" lol Any person reading the comments here can tell who the problem people are; actually it would be difficult not to spot them..They bait in the chat room, bait in a blog and then hope for a response that can be reported.. I've personally seen them both in action and its really ugly.. One lady posted a blog about Dandee and in the blog made some statements that were not true concerning me. Being the gentleman that I always try to be, I wrote a very kind reply stating the facts and ask her that if at the end of the day, we could just agree to disagree...Guess what, she deleted my comment! And that was after naming me in her blog, how rude can a person be? Oh, I have not said more than 10 words to either of them, do not use profanity and I never ever threaten a lady. You just can't fix stupid...And you can't fix mean either... I am signing off SFF and yes the Fab4 or 5 plus a couple other wackos are more than any sane person needs in their life.. Wow!! Thanks for ALL your comments! I didn't expect so many. Whether you agree with my views or not, I respect that you all took time to read my blog and to comment. Like I said, not all of us think and believe the same...and that is ok with me. I'm not trying to convert anyone...I'm just voicing my opinion and venting. A couple of commenters seem to think that some of my views are unfair because I don't know what they know. To this I can only say that it is impossible for me to state my view on things I have not seen and do not know. I can only express my views on what I HAVE seen.I don't make comments on hearsay. I also try to refrain from getting caught up in gossip. I abhor gossip and will discourage it if someone wants to lay it on me. As far as harmful threats being made...all I can say is that these things are a matter for the police and not a matter to be bashed around in a chatroom. I know for sure that if anyone threatened me or my family I would have the RCMP on it so fast that heads would be spinning! I am disappointed that some are choosing to use MY blog as a stage for THEIR scrapping. Not surprised...just disappointed. I also note that there is some kerfuffle over the questions I had raised. They were just questions. I received no info from anyone. They are simply my own questions that developed while watching this fighting from a distance. I thought as Undup said you were attempting peace. As Im not part of chat andwill never be now, I say you. However its taking up blogs. I just feel Sandy might as well be crying to the moon, there will be no going back to the good old days. Even in real life we cant go back. Sorry Sandy but thats my opinion. I went into Chat once last week and even tho' there was no fighting I felt I had to be careful if I said anything and I will always feel that way in there no matter who is there. people I email on this site dont go into chat. maybe one or two, but the majority of them never go to chat. I dont care who fights in chat, I enjoyed blogs and now I am not going there either. I have done my best to write "normal" blogs but they just get 10 comments at most where the fighters get 300 or 400 and its the most depressing blogging site I have seen ever. Im going out to enjoy my day, I feel sick, and sick of all this. I have gone through enough in my life and this immature carry on just gets to me. They with all the pervs on the site, and the men being stalked by young women, I think roxy was right and she is a sensible women to be gone. Thats my opinion and I know Prairie did her blog in good faith but it has started it all up again. Slainte.

The stuff I have blogged wasn't any lie , unless of course the blogs/editorials some of these banned members make on other sites are lies .. need I go on ? nope , I don't lie and there is plenty to back that up. and belle , read this , weren't you a regular member of that other site that loved to chat/abuse about sffers .

As for your descriptions of the Op ..My , My , others said it was filled with people , 40 -50 playing trivia and chatting in there day and night ..LOL. Who is the liar? Belle , it would behoove you to admit that those banned have created their own demise and it is their refusal to accept responsibility is their problem . Fortunately , I have a wonderful set of friends and family in reality .I guess in a way that's why I can be more independent than others I just don't need you all enuff to sell my soul.

Prairie Sky...what a wonderfully nobel attempt at trying to reduce the friction and fighting in SFF. It is a real pity that your blog has been subjected to a "Fight to the last" attitude, rather than "lets try to reconcile". Have always had the greatest respect for you, it's so damn lousey that others don't! Any day above ground is a good day......

Prairy you are a very intelligent person and have presented a very well written blog I agree with what you have said in regard to free speech for all including on this chat site. After reading some of the comments it appears that again we have the he said/she said thing going again. Very unfortunate that the point has been missed by some it made sense to me! Cheers
