I sit back in amazement at the posts of some of our more aggressive attack bloggers and I have to wonder if they ever ask themselves.

"Just what am I achieving by posting this?"

Alfie...

It only takes a drop of ink to make a million people think. There are many stories.

Seems this is something intrinsic to human nature. Years ago, long before the development and spread of the internet I was active in CB and armature radio. The armature (or ham) stayed pretty clear of this behavior but the CB side was exactly like SFF other cyber communities. At that time I realized that one of the appeals of this ability to operate behind the scenes created a perfect storm for people to create the person they would like to be. The real person lurking in the shadows comes out.

On the plus side this can be used, as I did with the CB community, an excellent opportunity to learn some of the hidden motives of people before meeting them in person. I was single and dating then and it worked very well for initial screening purposes. It also worked in much the same way with making friends too. Seeing someone's self that is often hidden from even them is very valuable.
