A Clear and Present Danger

Republicans (including Ted Cruz) have taken the position they will refuse to confirm any Supreme Court appointees after Hillary Clinton is inaugurated. This is dangerous because without the Supreme Court we have no Court of final disposition. Without a Supreme Court the rule of law becomes a shadow of what the founders of this nation envisioned.

The Supreme Court and all inferior courts were established under Article III of the US Constitution.

So what republicans are saying is in effect "we don't agree with what the Supreme Court rulings have been and are likely to be in the future. So what we are going to do is to eliminate the interpretation of law by the Supreme Court and in so doing setting up our own interpretation of law. We will strangle the Supreme Court out of existence by refusing to confirm any new appointees that are brought forward for our review.

When one couples Donald Trump's refusal to accept the results of this election with their refusal to confirm new Supreme Court justices the republican assault on this democracy becomes clear.

Pay attention citizens. This election is vitally important. The president selection is vitally important. But the senatorial and congressional elections are equally as important.
