Great Businessman? Today's Results Say Otherwise.

If there is one claim that republicans have made to bolster their candidate it is that they contend he is a great businessman. When confronted with the fact that he has taken bankruptcy numerous times and that he has seen numerous business ventures fail...some as soon as a late term abortion. Trump Airlines? Gone, Trump Steaks? Gone Trump Casinos? Gone several times Trump Marriages? Gone several times as well to name a few of his so called great business accomplishments.

More recently and apparently occurring now are the effects that Trump is experiencing in his hotels. Occupancy rates have taken a beating over the last several months. One report shows that occupancy rates dropped by 17% two months ago...followed by another drop last month.

Trump has begun discounting rates at his flagship Washington DC hotel. Initial rates for a standard 401 square foot room were above $595.00 per night. Now rates are shown to be $505.00 per night and $404.00 to AAA members. Comparative rates in DC are $695.00 per night with many of competitive hotels sold out.

So what are we to make of this? Considering that Trumps occupancy rates are dropping at all of his properties and that competitive hotels are able to command higher prices and full occupancy leaves only one factor that could account for the rough sledding Trump is experiencing at his hotels. That factor is Donald Trump himself...more precisely the Trump effect as created by his antics, misogyny, blatant racism, insidious bigotry and sexual assaults on women.

In other words, Donald Trump the "great businessman" has effectively strangled his own business by the very nature of himself.

Having dealt with hotels in my business career, I know that the difference between the desired 80% occupancy and 60% percent occupancy at Trumps Hotels can mean that debt service...the obligation of the loans he holds on these properties may not be met in accordance with what Trump agreed to.
