The Monkey Has no Concept of Copyright Laws- is it Ignorance or Alzheimer's?

Listeria, God help him, must be losing any ability to read or to understand what he is responding to.

In a classic example of deflection he is trying to claim that Pavarotti's performance of an aria is the same as the aria itself. I know... this position of his is stupid, stupid, stupid.

For those who, like Listeria, do not understand the distinction between the aria and a performance of that aria, a musical song stands distinct from the performance of that same song because each human voice is distinct; each arrangement is distinct. This is why Pavarotti's widow, along with his daughters, sent a letter to Donald Trump requesting that he cease and desist (for LIsteria, that means stop) using Pavarotti's performance of the aria.

Let me repeat this for Listeria or his minions. Since, apparently, Listeria no longer has the cognitive ability to discern the distinction between an aria and the performance by an artist of that aria, the performance by an artist of the aria stands apart from the aria itself under current copyright laws. That distinction exists because of the artists unique performance.

How this could apply to Listeria is this...in the event that Listeria, while grinding his organ, began a resounding rendition of Yankee Doodle Dandy. In addition to the inadequate volume of his organ, he added his vocal accompaniment. He could claim protection under copyright law if he had recorded his performance and someone else used it in a topless bar while some young nubile girl bumped and ground before Listeria's rheumy eyes..

While Yankee Doodle Dandy is, of itself, no longer subject to copyright protection, Listeria's rendition (his unique performance of Yankee Doodle Dandy) is provided copyright protection.

In conclusion, Listeria, unfortunately and apparently is no longer capable of discerning this distinction. Perhaps it is the volume of excrement emanating from his rheumy eyes or perhaps he has visions of the young nubile pole dancers in one of the many topless joints he has frequented in his drunken days. Whatever the cause, Listeria's ignorance of copyright law stands.

Hi Don: I didn't watch the part of the convention where they played that song but if you mean they played a recording of Pavarotti singing Nessun Dorma on the loudspeaker, then of course to play any recording I think they must obtain permission from the copyright owner and pay a fee.

Trump does or says whatever he wants disregarding laws, people's feelings, and human decency. He's got so many lawsuits against him and would probably have a lot more if suing someone wasn't so expensive. There are so many recording artists that have told Trump to stop playing their songs because for one thing they don't want people hearing their songs to think they are associated with Trump or the Repub party.
