Remembering Archie (Bunker, that is) I like to tease Biggie (Mr. Ed) about being Archie Bunker like. I mean this as a humorous aside and nothing particularly mean spirited about my attribution. Just oldsters having fun with each other. Archie Bunker was, of course, the character that Carroll O'Connor played on the television sitcom "All in the Family." There are certain similarities between Biggie and Archie. Archie was conservative to a fault as is Biggie. Archie had an innate capacity to butcher the English language. Following are some of Archie's quotes from those good old days when Archie was loved by Ethel in spite of himself most of the time. "No bum that can't speak poifect English oughta stay in this country...oughta be de-exported the hell outta here! Don't talk like an ignarosis. All are trouble, Edith. And I don't wanna spend my reclining years trying to raise another one. Yankin' out the tonsils and the adenoods. We hold these semi-animal meetings. It passes outta you through your lower intestubes. After once or twice a thing like this gets vulgarious. New York champagne...that's a phony label. They don't grow raisins in New York. Arrrivaducci Why doncha get some chinkypuncture? OK, if you can get an indepartial judge.... What do I look like, an inferior decorator? I told him no. N, O, W, no! |

Hi Don: I loved that show. I loved the episode where Edith was going through menopause. You couldn't help like Archie no matter how weird his opinions. Same thing with Big. Even though we may disagree I think at heart he is a good person. .
