Desert floor - Joshua Tree forest

This photograph is a carbon - single transfer print of the desert floor in a Joshua Tree forest between Wikenburg, Arizona and Las Vegas, Nevada. As I mention previously the single transfer of a carbon gelatin matrix process is an old photographic process dating from 1850.

The image was taken with a 5X7 sheet film view camera, developed and printed in house.

As one can tell the desert floor is a place containing many varieties of cactus and venomous creatures. Yet, in spite of those impediments, one can find beauty there.

Interesting technique. It really captures the "feeling" of the desert.
