A tragedy averted?

This photograph shows the aftermath of a bridge failure on interstate highway 10 near Palm Springs, California. Interstate 10, for those who may not know, is the main highway between Phoenix, Arizona and Los Angeles, California. Tens of thousands of cars use this route daily.

Thankfully only one vehicle was involved in the bridge failure. The driver suffered injuries but was not killed.

This week we see the results of government inaction on the Federal Highway Bill. They voted a three month extension. They have been voting for extensions for years.

The problem is not with the administration. The problem exists in disagreement between the republican controlled House of Representatives and the Senate.

Their response to the bridge failure? Go on vacation and go home. We deserve more than this!
