Shopping for a building lot in the village.

I'm really trying to prepare ahead. I know I will stay here, in this area. When I went shopping with my , half a dozen people knew my name and got some hugs...it was like that everywhere we went. He said "mom..you can't leave here..this is your home, your people" and he's right..everything is here except my , and they move around and they visit.

So now I am looking for a building lot in the village..there is no rental property anywhere, homes in town very seldom come for sale....so when the time comes, when I can't take care of this property, I'll sell it and build a cozy home in the village. My sister finally found a rental in the city..it's nice..but almost 2000. dollars a month....think I'll build. So I can walk to my doctors, post office, drugstore, Hospital..and the beach..ahhh, that would be nice.

I now have a list..buy a lot, prepare and prepay funeral costs. It may be many many years, but land never goes down in value and neither do funeral costs. I've been exposed to too much...I don't want to leave that to my family..

So looking for a piece of property..start planting some trees..

my home now..a lot of work...love it but one day won't want to be cutting an acre of land..with a house and the cottage...lot of space..lot of upkeep.

Sounds like you are really doing well with the moving on phase. You are facing one of the big hurdles for people in our age group - needing to be closer to services and still being comfortable in our environment. Ah, if only we all had the financial means to hire the help needed to maintain our dream homes.

Good for you - uphill progress for sure.

Lovely pictures!!

Good for you to be thinking ahead! I've given myself two years to de-clutter and sell up. I'll be 70, and as much as I love this property...enough is enough.

I'll be looking to buy or rent a condo in town.

Land is always a good buy.... They aren't making any more!!! LOL

Hi Morgana

Just a thought. When I sold my other home I owned an acre of land near my son. I was sure that I could build another house on it with the money I got from the sale. Couldn't do it.... I now have a mortgage which I didn't have before.

Good luck with your plans whatever they may be.

Roses..hugs sweet lady..thinking of you..
I always thought that when this place became too much, I would move down to where my children are..but they are all in their forties..can not imagine living in an apartment....my son is right..this is my home, these are my people, they know my car..they know me...it's so comforting.....hugs my dear friend.

big..it's a wise thing to do..I may not build for many years...maybe not at all....but here property values just keep going up. I figure the time to buy the land is now...
