Who am I......

....As each clue progresses it reveals a little more of this remarkable person. At which clue were you able to identify who it is......

(1.).....I grew up in segregated Birmingham Alabama where blacks had to eat separately from whites, use different toilets and drinking fountains.

(2.)....When I was nine a close school friend was killed in the 1963 bombing of the sixteenth street Baptist church.

(3.)....My Parents instilled in me that nothing is a given and in order to compete I had to be twice as good as my white counterparts.

(4,)....When I was 3 I started piano lessons and could read at four. When I was 11 my father became Dean of Stillman College in Tuscaloosa Alabama. Two years later my family moved to Colorado where my dad became an administrator at the University of Colorado. I enrolled in my first integrated school. I became a competitive ice skater and accomplished pianist.

(5.)....I graduated cum laud from the University of Colorado and my major was in international relations. I am fluent in French and Russian and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. I received my MA from Notre Dame and my PhD from the University of Denver.

(6.)....At 26 I became a professor at Stanford University it was then when I was asked to join the staff of President G.H.W. Bush's National Security Adviser Brent Scowcroft. I returned to Stanford and was named provost at the age of 39.

(7.).... I now hold the highest position a black woman has ever held in Government. I consider it an honor to serve my Country and our President George W. Bush.

Here's a clue you overlooked:

Despite my lofty credentials, I didn't have gumption enough to tell W, or the American people that the excuses used to launch the Iraqi war were a bunch of B/S that had been fabricated and given to me and others.... since we were so ecstatic to have justification for what we were going to do, anyway, that we felt no compunction about passing along that B/S... even tho' we knew that it was going to darn-near bankrupt the country and give the country the horrid reputation as the world's bully for who-knows how long.

P. S. This remarkable person is NOT Colin Powell.. tho' my clue might be applied to him, also!!!!!!

I mounted a hockey puck on the front bumper of my car. My brother asked me: why? I said: it scares away the deer, so I don't run in to them. He asked: does it work? I said: Sure, I've had one on each of my last 4 cars and haven't run in to a deer with any of them....

60min: I'm well aware that there have been no direct attacks made to the US of A, America since 9/11. HOWEVER, I don't believe that ANYTHING that was done by the current administration had much - if anything - to do with it.....

AND, the price we've paid (costs in addition to what was in-place prior to 9/11) claiming to assure no such attack - you know, starting an entire new bureaucracy called the National Security Administration, and that oh-so-pricey escapade in Iraq - probably hasn't been worth it...
