Name That Tune......

......Remember that game show on TV? Where the first few notes of a song was played and contestants would hit a buzzer and come up with the song title?......OK lets see if you can do this, I will give a series of numbered clues. When you are able to identify the song let me know what number clue produced the answer for you. The lower the number the better you are.......

1. First published 1908

2. The songs author also wrote the song "Shine on Harvest Moon"

3. Its credited as the 3rd most sung song in America behind "Happy Birthday" and the National Anthem.

4. This year marks the first time the Post Office has issued a stamp after a song title.

5. A 1949 movie musical was named after its title starring Frank Sinatra, Gene Kelly and Esther Williams.

6. Bill Veek is credited with making it as popular today as ever and one would be hard pressed to find someone who doesn't know the words and melody of the chorus.

7. The recording artist most famous for this song is Harry Caray who is better known as a broadcaster.

8. If you haven't got it by now I am a little disappointed because its sung during the 7th inning of almost every game.......

"The cause of America is in a great measure the cause of all mankind."....T. Paine

In some ballparks both "God Bless America" & " Take Me Out To The Ball Game" are sung... they do one at start of 7th inning and the latter in the middle. Anyway, I got it in 2. The song is also celebrating it's 100th birthday.

Take me out to he ballgame...been singing it since I was a tot, it was one of my dad's favourites he was a huge Gene Kelly/Sinatra fan. The song was written by someone called Norwood or Northwood...Shine on Harvest moon gave it away for me because it was my parent's "song".

lol 60...as a life-long Cubs fan, gotta love this blog ty...as a side note, I met the host, Tom Kennedy, and his side-kick, Kathie Lee (JOHNSON) at that time while they came to Champaign, Illinois in 1978 to host a Heart Association CPR telethon....Tom interviewed me, and was a very friendly guy....Kathie Lee, on the other hand, was a snob....go figure lol.....bob
