The Dumbing Down of a President.......

......Much has been said about President Bush on the subject of his intelligence, especially the lack of. So whats the real story? is he in fact the least intelligent of our Presidents. The Lowenstien institute probably initiated this myth when they reported his IQ to be 91. This is remarkable in that there is no such institute. It was however circulated on the internet and many view it as fact. This mis-information is in the minds of many probably because of his public speaking ability, which is frequently the brunt of late night TV jokes..........In 1978 President Bush lost his only election to a candidate who made fun of him having degrees from Yale and Harvard. From that point on he made a vow to never be out-dumbed again. In 2000 when reporters asked his mother, former first lady Barbara Bush about his apparent lack of intelligence she replied, " He is dumb like a fox".....Anyway lacking a true IQ score it can only be estimated and that is done by looking at his SAT score when he applied to Yale. His verbal was 566 and Math 640 for a combined score of 1206. From those numbers it can be said that his IQ is in the 125 range if not higher. To put that score in terms we can relate to 1 in 20 score that high. .........An elitist he is not, "just a good ol boy" he is.

I had never seen the report from a "Lowentstien Institute"...and there doesn't seem to be much correlation between IQ and efficacy as a president. Didn't 'they' say that Jimmy Carter had the highest IQ of any president to date?

I've never read that his IQ was said to be 91 .... never heard of this before. But I believe it. I believe he is dumber than a box of rocks by the stupid decisions he's made in governing and sending us into a war that may well be our downfall. Hail to the 'genius' .............

Hi 60: Very interesting blog and thanks for the info. Bush must at least have 'normal' intelligence to have gotten this far in life and especially in politics. To me he seems like a very personable down to earth guy but he doesn't appear to have a lot of self confidence or poise in public. He might have been happier in another type of career altogether, but maybe he went to university and into politics in the first place in large part to win his father's approval.

I think that I.Q. by itself means very little in life. It is more what a person is able to accomplish with the I.Q. they have that is important. To pass an I.Q. test a person doesn't have to know the answers as on Jeopardy, they just have to be able to use logic to figure out how to arrive at the answers.

I would suggest that interested readers google the actual "report" for clarity. It is lowenstein, by the way.

A hoax it is, an untruth, possibly not.

Dumb like a fox means he can be dumd and lie his way out of it.
Like it's not my fault I had bad information!!
Mission accompished.

We are here for the Iraq people.
Gas will go to $4---first I have heard about that!!
Our FEMA director is doing a great job---immediately after the New Orleans disaster.
Forget the IQ tests. He is so dumb that he will lie when the truth would sound better.

To the devil with IQ scores.

Let's judge Bush by his in-office performance:

--Bush started 2 wars (so far) and won 0.
--Bush's budgets have more than doubled our national debt. (Although he hasn't done it entirely without help).
--Bush sat stupidly in a childrens' classroom as somebody (and we still don't know exactly who) bombed N.Y. City and Washington, D.C. --Bush has codified the torture of prisoners into our federal law, but after WW2 the Allies executed Japanese military personnel for use of water-torture, a measure Bush now claims he's justified in using.
--Under Bush's tenure and partially as the result of his disastrous foreign policies, the world price of crude oil has multiplied by over 600%. Crude oil was circa $20/bbl in 2000. It's now over $140/bbl.
--Etc.
--Etc.
--Etc.

Sorry to say this, Richard. But your pro-Bush argument here is a waste of your time. After 7 1/2 years of Dubya's bigger and bigger messes, almost nobody cares how Bush did on his IQ test.

If Liberals really hated America, we'd all vote Republican.

Jeffpilot----"--Bush's budgets have more than doubled our national debt. (Although he hasn't done it entirely without help)."

Did we even have a national debt when George took over? I could be wrong but I thought we didn't.

Yes, we had a national debt when George Bush took over. Bill Clinton's tax policies had eliminated the annual budget deficit, leaving us an annual budget surplus. But after only eight months in office, George Bush's tax cuts for the rich and corporate tax giveaways had erased the annual budget surplus.

When Clinton became president the national debtleft behind by Reagan and Bush's daddy was still there. We were however, working on reducing it. Now, forget that. Presently, the national debt is reported as being just shy of 10 trillion ($10,000,000,000,000.00) dollars.

It's stuff like this that explains why nobody cares what Bush's IQ is.

If Liberals really hated America, we'd all vote Republican.

Lol.... No, Bush's IQ isn't his fault. But lots of what we see around us is Bush's fault. For his making such a mess of our country, somebody oughta stuff a 15-lb angry lobstaahhh sideways up Bush's rear end. Just please don't ask me to do it.
