Whatch Gonna do When They Come for You........

.......Last night the Democrat majority in the House of Representatives narrowly passed the Failed Stimulus Bill II disguised as health care reform. All I heard from the Democrats last night during the debates were that 36 million Americans will now be able to afford heath care. OK what about the other 10-11 million? Guess they forgot about them. Nothing was said by Democrats that it would be accomplished at the point of a gun either. Forcing Americans to purchase health insurance with threats of fines and imprisonment is not my picture of reform or freedom. I also did not hear from them about fiscal responsibility or unemployment concerns or something minor like lowering a 1.4 trillion deficit we had this year. That's about 4 times higher than it has ever been in our history. In poll after poll Americans did not want this Pelosi version of health care reform.......I am confident that rational thinking persons in the Senate will prevail and a better bill will be forthcoming. Of course with Al Franken, Roland Burris and Chris Dodd anything is possible. Oh and that little document called the Constitution? dont let that stand in your way, your colleagues in the House didn't............

It seems to me that you told me the other 10-11 million not covered by health insurance were illegal immigrants. Are you now saying you want them insured too?

We should send them to Canada for all their free benefits and while there you can give them a job..

60minman, there are about 11 million Americans that won't be covered under this so-called plan and then we have Congress, that also won't be covered by this plan.

If their brainstorm is so wonderful, then we should expect Congress to be required to join in, shouldn't we?

As to the Constitution, I think nobama has a plan for that. He intends to soften it up, put it on a roll, and sell it as toilet paper. It means nothing to him....and lately, it appears it means nothing to the Supreme Court either.

Daylilly if they purchase a health insurance policy with their own money why not? In fact they can do that now.

In California, the state is under a court order to release about 40,000 prisoners, some with serious felony convictions, because of over crowding. Do you seriously think people are going to be sent to prison for refusing to buy health insurance?

Not to worry, Richard.... the bill is dead in the water because it will never pass the Senate.
It also looks like the Senate is a long way from getting anything of their own to the floor for debate, let alone a vote.
Then, IF they do, whatever they pass must be reconciled with what the House passed, and then THAT has to go back to BOTH the House and the Senate for final passage.
Do you really think that such an unpopular ticket has much chance in an election year where ALL the House is up for grabs, and ONE-THIRD of the Senate is too?
That is why the president was in such a hurry to get it done this summer.... I think he knows it won't fly in 2010.

Flirty being a federal bill I would assume the penalty would be a federal one. States would have nothing to do with it.

MsJoe you are probably right but with the nitwits I mentioned and others one never knows. Just like the house they love passing things that are unpopular in the middle of the night and on a Saturday at that......

Why not 50, we give them work permits and let them work, that means they have to pay through their taxes just as we do for health care.

So, to get back to my question, do you seriously think people are going to be sent to prison for refusing to buy health insurance? It is your statement so I just wonder what it is based on.

60min: TODAY is a RED LETTER day.... As you and I are in agreement....

I don't want to see ANY so-called "health care reform" legislation enacted until:

1. It includes that ALL the Federal government employees (yes, that means Legislature, Executive and Judicial departments) are included under its umbrella of coverage.... And...

2. It makes a TOTAL break from having employers provide medical insurance coverage for their employees. WHAT is THAT all about????
Can you imagine having rules that say that you MUST have your homeownder's insurance or your automobile liability insurance provided by your employer????? MY BIGGEST GRIPE? How do you accomodate those who DON'T HAVE AN "Employer"?????? Isn't that a stupid concept (Medical insurance by/through your JOB??????)

3. ...AND fines or other sanctions for those who choose NOT to have medical insurance coverage?????? WHAT IS THAT all about???? Who's to say that one MUST purchase medical insurance coverage under the threat of being treated as a criminal if they don't???? What's next? You have to eat the correct breakfast cereal or you get thrown in jail??????

By-the-by: For those Constitutional purists out there: WHAT THE HECK is the Federal gummint doing in the insurance business????? Do they remember that the Constitution sez that they're only responsible for a darn-few items (national defense is one....) and that all those details NOT included in the Constitution are in the purview of the individual states?????????? CRIPES, write the Constitution on a piece of toilet paper, then put it to its "regular" use, if you're going to treat that vaunted document this way......

Thank you. Now.. I'll step down off THIS soap box....

HI Flirty

The state WILL NOT give an early release to prisoners that have been convicted of crimes involving violence. Nor to sex related crimes or crimes where drugs were involved.

In some cases, they will be giving more credit (up to 12 weeks) to low risk prisoners that have completed skills training and those in fire camps scattered through out California.

As you probably know, we have a justice system here in CA that is not interested in justice, they are interested in filling up the prisons for political gain and the next step up the rung in their career. In this state, you are presumed innocent until proved broke and de-funk of resources...
Have a nice day!
