"Legitimate" Results.............are you legitimate?

.......Aside from the World Series, the only thing of interest on the Boob tube was Tuesday's election coverage. I was pleased in general with the results. Republicans won in 2 of the 3 important races. Additionally for the 31st time the Gay/Lesbian gay marriage initiative was defeated by voters. Perhaps Maine is not as liberal as I had once thought. I fail to understand the Gay rights lobby saying they are denied the privilege of getting married. Hog wash they can get married anytime they want, all they have to do is find a partner of the opposite sex and get married........OK back to the subject of this blog. Yesterday the Drudge report released its ratings for viewership of the networks covering the Election.

Fox News Channel 4,043,000 viewers
MSNBC 974,000 viewers
Headline News 842,000 viewers
CNN 826,000 viewers

I find these results stunning. For a network to be touted by the White House as not being a "Legitimate News Organization" is absolutely amazing. How much longer do we, the viewing public, have to put up with MSNBC, HN, and CNN. They need to take their bias and pack up and leave. Their commentators are crude, uninformed and consistently ignore the truth as they spin their hateful liberal trash to an ever dwindling audience.......Go ahead White House keep telling us that Fox is not legitimate. Apparently not many are listening, myself included.

Richard - I wish you'd stick with writing about your experiences at the bash. I find them to be so much more interesting and exciting than this constant repetition. Do you recall that old song? Tell me the old old story.

Alfie...

It only takes a drop of ink to make a million people think. There are many stories.

I expect that you will have to put up with it for the same length of time that I have to tolerate Fox. Despite your denial, I assume you must watch the non-Fox stations to be able to form your conclusion as to how hateful they are. What's you take on PBS news programs?

I was so hopping that you had got this so very narrow minded and politically incorrect notion, one good thing that came out of last week is that a person near to you has come to the realization that I am not a male..I found it very interesting that after meeting you and your lovely wife you were not at all the way that I had perceived you, I truly enjoyed meeting both of you....

I enjoyed watching the results on CNN, which is actually the station that we watch the most for news, with Fox as the second most often station.
It was there that I heard very interesting comments about the growing numbers of independent voters and the fact that the president's personal popularity does not appear to extend to those whom he endorses.
And that while his PERSONAL popularity rating is a little above 50%, his performance rating is not. And that the huge numbers of minorities and young people who were at the polls a year ago, were notably absent this year.
In my opinion, that fact seems to show that they were more interested in getting a young, charismatic, minority president elected, than they are in the actual governmental process of our country.

Confession time now. How many of you have seen on TV the crowds, estimated to be in the many thousands, on the Capitol protesting the healthcare bill? It has been going on all day and people are still arriving. It appears only Fox is reporting this since I can't find it on any of the other "major" news channels and I mean not even a mention, let alone any video footage.

Hi Alfie.....You and Ann were missed this year. The overall attendance was down some this year but the fun wasn't. I like that old hymn also as you would imagine.

Well 60min you got the expected answer from the expected people. YOU are illegitimate! These people don't have an off button, they can't change the channel. They just have to see what you have written. But they never learn anything. Why? Blinded by their own politics, it is impossible for them to ever consider anothers point of view as being legitate.

Hi Flirty.... yes I see the other stations when I am flipping through the channels. As far as PBS is concerned anything with the word "Public" in front of its title I am suspect for it recieves government assistance. Seems like if was all that good it would be 100% funded by viewers/sponsors. I do contribute annually in my State because they do have some very good programing..... Fox does not make fun of people like the others do. They are objective and always give the other side an opportunity to respond. Why do you think their viewership is so overwhelming?

Karin thanks for commenting. Many at the bash are dear to me so I am not sure what you mean. At any rate my political views are just that. Just like yours are yours. They have no bearing on my personality. I do not base my likes or dislikes of a person based on political viewpoints. If that were the case I would never talk to my liberal, progressive who enjoys paying taxes, Brother of mine. Yes it was a pleasure meeting you. I was disappointed not being able to ask you about your catering business as I have a catering/food service backgroung also. Maybe next time......

SPIN? Why does the news have to be spun---by any of the networks? And how can one decide if it is "spun" more objectively by Fox if all the news is spun. Where does one go for impartial, objective, factual reporting? Don't say Fox---you just said they spin the news.

BTW I wasn't rooting for the Yankees either.

Where is your off button? Were you looking in the mirror when you wrote that? I don't remember reading anything by you that seemed open minded. Maybe I missed it.

You have used this phrase in several of your comments........that you see the "expected answer by the expected people."......Just wondering if you think that your own remarks.....or 60's are ever unexpected.......because from what I have seen, your comments are very predictable.

Flirty my comment to Ms Joe was about the spin commentators use not news reporting. I guess what I am saying is the other networks select what news it wants us to see. Fox does not it reports it all....Why else do liberals try and denigrate Fox?

Richard, would you believe that he was pulling for the Yankees? Dang traitor, huh? His excuse was that at least they are in "our" league! Not me, by golly... the only thing I like about the Yankees is that cutie, Derek!

Why do repubs try and denigrate other networks?......Probably Fox is so popular for the same reason people want to drive SUVs, eat garbage, drink, do drugs, watch porn and cranked out pablum Hollywood movies, Judge Judy......Americans watch Fox for the same reason they are obese.........Fox and MacDonald's and Crispy Creme..........all part of the brand-name,no-brain culture......Fox is McNews......America is addicted to brainless entertainment.........Absolutely nothing to do with truth or quality.

Anyone who writes from a conservative point of view can expect that the same people will react in the same way. They don't have to read the blog. But they make a choice to do so. Truth is not the objective to be sought after. The popular point of view, what they consider to be "main stream" perspective is only to be promoted, and anyone who disagrees is ridiculed.
I fail to understand how this is intelligent.
Don't confuse me with the facts I've already made up my mind seems to be the prevailing attitude. Maybe that's why some people would prefer to have a "nanny" state, to avoid thinking.

Richard my friend, wavinatcha! I'm the one who thought Karin was a male based on her first week in blogs. She and I discussed it at the bash. Over and done with.

Now, as to your political views. You're so lucky the BOSS allows you to run around spouting this stuff!

Ed and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the two of you and look forward to the next time. RED hosts good parties for sure.

Heard an interview with Helen Thomas on the CBC a couple of days ago. She doesn't think the Obama people should go to war with Fox. I agree with her, although I suspect that Real Americans would disagree with our reasons.

From what I've seen of Fox News, I concluded that The Daily Show is more legitimate as a news source.

One the the ironies of life is that much of the success of Fox can be attributed to the popularity that commie-lib series The Simpsons.

60min: I don't think that audience numbers lend "legitimacy" to a broadcast. After all, in the late 1930's didn't the German Socialist station have numbers like those that you are touting for Fox, now???????

I'm ever amazed at the concept of Fox news as a legitimate/unbiased/valuabvle news source. You know that I listen to their programming much of the day. It is the ONLY "news" station which qualifies its broadcasts,... with the likes of "we report, you decide....", and "Fox News, fair and balanced". WHY don't the other outlets feel it necessary to qualify the balance or fairness of their broadcasts???? [Me thinks thou doest protest too much.....]

Fox News.... remember, 60min, I listen to it often... is almost exclusively an OPINION broadcast.... Hannity, Limbaugh, Beck, Levin..... is what they spout anything more than their own opinions??? Oh, sure, the broadcasts have interspersals of "news" on the top and bottom of the hour.... but THAT, folks, is the closest that Fox comes to simply reading NEWS STORIES... that is, facts and details... information which requires NO SPIN... and which has no need for opinion......

Let me step off my soapbox for now.... Mark Levin is coming on soon...

P.S. I LOVE the ads for non-hybridized seeds that I'm encouraged to buy, so that I will have suitable nourishment after the apocalypse or whenever it is that I should plant them!!!!!

Ackman: one interesting datum about Fox is the audience they attract. Appears to be disproportianately comprised of white males over 50. Probably tells you something.

bike I beleive that is the major demographic for all news shows. Anyone younger watches Entertainment Tonight and American Idol.
