......Last Thursday on MSNBC Maria Bartiromo was holding an Interview with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Maria asked Speaker Pelosi if the Bush Tax cuts were rolled back(allowed to expire) wouldn't that be a tax increase? A simple yes or no answer was not forthcoming. Instead Madam Speaker replied "That wasn't a tax increase, It is.. eliminating a tax decrease that was there... It was controversial to begin with. It is... a boon to those who have had it for now. But I think that you will see that happen." ......OK lets examine what she said by using the biblical principle of a parable. Lets call it the "Roll-back parable"........OK say your employer gave you a pay raise last year and now has decided to cut your pay. He calls you into his office and informs you that he is going to "Roll" back the pay increase he gave you last year...........
* "You mean you are going to cut my pay?" * "No I am just "Rolling" back your pay increase." * "What? that's cutting my pay." * "No its not we are just taking away your last increase." * "You expect me to buy that? why that's nonsense." * "Yes we do." * " Who in gods name do you think I am? an Obama voter?"
....Thus endeth the lesson, if you have a better parable for letting the Bush tax cuts expire in 2010 which by the way, cut everyone's taxes who paid them not just the rich, please enlighten me so I can make some sense about what the Speaker meant.....

She doesn't want to admit that it is a tax increase, because they probably already have an increase OVER that planned, and she doesn't want us to know that we will have TWO increases in taxes to look forward to.

Common Roxy the Bush tax cuts averted a recession spurred the economy and put dollars back in taxpayers pockets. He even gave us 2 refunds. Its taxpayers that make this economy hum and now is not the time to tax us more. The dow is hovering around 10000 and we dont need to destroy anymore jobs. A tax increase will do just that. Its one thing to dislike the guy its another to dislike a policy that works.

60minman, yesterday's news said that Pelosi's approval rating within her own liberal district is now at 38% - it's entirely within the realm of possibility that she may not get reelected. Wouldn't that be great?

When I was a retailer and performed particularly well for a particular year, I was bonused. That way I didn't expect the extra money for just showing up every day.
My base pay was consistent with the pay scale for my job. My bonus was 100% under my control based on my performance.

Aside from your poor punctuation and general English usage it is apparent that you must have spent a little too much time at recess.
I'd bet that it I made the above comment about Obama I would be called a racist. President Bush did not "walk off into the sunset." His TWO terms were completed and he left public office. If you are such a wise person I think you should run for President. Then we can see if you are as ignorant as you appear to be.

AnneMac yes many job bonuses are tied to performance especially sales. That being said I am assuming that your not comparing a tax cut to bonuses. We all have enjoyed a tax cut for going on 10 years now. would be shameful to lose that in this economic climate.

60min: Politicians DO have an interesting way of looking at things, don't they????
Below, I'm reposting a blog that I made in February, 2006. It was based on a similar concept..... To wit: (Sit still, S2MS... and don't get all sticky and sweaty!!!!!):
SAVING $$$$$
How many times have you heard someone say "… if I could just SAVE a little…"
Well, I have learned of a fantastic method of saving which I will share with you, here. This method assures savings EVERY TIME… and can mean substantial savings every year. I learned of it by watching those who practice this method. I’m surprised that THEY don’t disseminate this information more widely. (AND, they are people whose names you would recognize!!!).
Since I started following their method, in 2001, I have saved a BUNDLE each year. Just last year (2005) my savings approached $50,000.
As an example, here's how I saved last year:
In March, I saw a great new John Deere riding lawn mower. Oh, how I would have liked to have it….. BUT, I declined to by it…. Instead, using my old, dependable "Weed Wacker" for yet another year. Savings: $2750.
In July, when the "Big 3" automakers were offering “Employee pricing” I fell in love with a Cadillac Esplanade that would have looked great in my driveway. HOWEVER, I decided to "pass" and keep my 1995 Dodge Caravan going for yet another year. Savings: $39,779.
In each case (above) I pocketed my money (I had $12 in the first case; $68, in the second)… which I promptly added to my passbook savings account.
This, Seniors, is the very same method used by our 535 esteemed Congressmen to “Save” your tax dollars, each year! Watch and listen to them, and you will find that they will actually tout how much they saved you (us) by not (for example) funding a new 50,000 seat basketball arena in Butte, Montana… or, by not funding a study of the mating habits of the “Daddy Long-legs“ spider…..
I hope that all of you will start using this method, immediately, and put away “a bundle” for a rainy day. Please, stay in touch with me and let me know how you did…… AND, add in any pointers that you have that our fellow Seniors might be able to utilize….

Very good Ackman I must have missed that one. It boggles my mind how these people can get elected over and over again. Its both parties and I even think the Independents are not any better.....I am a Rebublican solely based on their social issues. any other reason they are no different than a Democrat.
