......At a public elementary school in New Jersey children were taught through song, one mimicking "Jesus loves the little children" and the other "The Battle Hymn of the republic, (mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord)", praising President Obama. Liberals find it offensive when a prayer is uttered, a Christmas carol sung and the Easter story is taught, find this display of teaching children to praise President Obama acceptable. This did make the news but was lightly treated as a non story. After all they were just children no harm done. I was horrified at watching this spectacle. Especially taking songs that celebrate our Christian heritage in America to sing praises to a person instead of God almighty. Has America come this far that we teach our children to worship another person instead of the creator? I am sure Liberals will somehow denigrate this issue as insignificant and unimportant. I am enclosing the words to the songs in question that were taught to young (6-8 yr olds) school children so you can make up your own mind. ......Song #1... Mm, mmm, mm! This is just my own humble opinion. The teachers, or whoever, came up with this should be soundly reprimanded or stronger as it has no place in school. But I disagree that our Judeo-Christian heritage needs to be taught and celebrated in school. The USA is a land of many cultures, religions, creeds, etc. Should we not teach those also, if there is a return to prayer and Judeo-Christian heritage lessons in public schools. Should not each parent educate their own child in the belief structure that suits their family? Why should the school teach this? There are several informative sites on the above mentioned music (not the lyrics). The lyrics to both are not the original, but were new words to old tunes used to reflect the times.

The entire idea repulses me. Where were the parents when their children were being taught this song? As a mom, I remember my children practicing at home the songs they learned in school. There are too many words for a child to learn in one or two lessons. Why didn't their parents raise an unholy stink? Richard, our country is in sad shape, I keep looking to the future and the only glimmer of hope I see is that 2012 isn't that far off.....if we can just stay away from total moral and financial bankruptcy until then. Life is too short for moaning and complaining, life is for living it to the fullest. AND I DO!

flirty....Our Judeo-Christian heritage is America's history. It is how this Country was founded. Its in our historical documents and writings. Sure we have many cultures but the one culture that began this American experience was judeo-Christian and I am not concerned wether anyone else is offended by it. We are America we are not Canada, Europe, Australia or the far east. You poor Americans, victims of this big fraud perpetrated on your country.......a president who is not even born in the country, is a Muslim, one time he did not assume the traditional pose while the anthem played, was photographed not wearing an American flag lapel pin,can't find his long-form original birth certificate, doesn't feed his children Happy Meals, swore on the Kuran instead of the Bible, uses his own icon on his jet, sometimes shows deference to other world leaders, inspires teachers to teach their students songs in his praise, wants all citizens to have access to good medical care, wants the US car manufacturers to use leading technology......etc. Obviously a Socialist/Natzi Dictator.......People of America......it is high time you faced the truth about your President and carry out your constitutional right to bear arms.....and storm the White House and oust that uppity half-white Kenyan Dictator who is trying to trick Real Americans into believing in Evolution........Bring it on!!!!!

It's called patriotism when the school children sang Bush's praises back in 2006, but it's called indoctrination when the children sang Obama's praises seven months ago. What is wrong with the children being taught to show respect towards the President of the USA? Fox news is now exploiting children in hopes of bringing Obama down. It's looking quite pathetic.

Starphysh - Your comments are all correct....I agree wholeheartedly with what you had to say, even though tongue in cheek. President Obama is not American and isn't defending the constiution in so many ways. It is absolutely absurd that we sing these new songs in schools praising him. That is way beyond showing respect. In the school in which I worked, we couldn't have a Christmas tree, it was a "giving tree." Even though we learned about and celebrated every religion, including Kwanza, Jews, Christians, etc., nothing was allowed that said Christmas. Race has nothing to do with it. He is not a good President and is not good for our country. He is a narcissist... I can't imagine you Canadians having so much input to our countries problems. I experienced your medical care, and I sure do not want anything like it here. I am new on here and read most blogs. What with all the "fighting" going on, it seems like people would have better ways to spend their time.

there is even more coming out with other schools.. it smacks of kim jung il and hugo chavez. this morning on a local talk station, they played a piece where 2 people dressed as ministers "prayed" to obama with their congregation, ending all of the incantations with hear us please obama.. people r crazy

Frankly, I find this disrespect for the Commander-In-Chief and Head Of State of The Greatest Nation On Earth despicable. If you don't respect the man, you should respect the office and the position. Reminds me of an item I saw in Readers Digest decades ago. A Southern EM encountered his first Marine Negro officer on the street. The EM didn't salute. The officer stopped him, took off his hat, and said 'At least salute the rank'.

It's kinda a sick moment in American history-so many of us voted for Obama,said,"He's the wave of the future-what the people want!" So we voted.And this is what we've got....a guy who hasnt got a clue,apparently. We HAD Bush,and we didnt eject him.Now we have Obama,but many of us didnt elect him.(Be glad at least,if you voted at all.At least we have pride-that we did vote,regardless of the oputcome.

Hi 60minutes My friend you sure know how to get these people all up tight...so the question is how much yeah getting paid to do this? BUT BUT BUT you know that I agree with you on this one...well ok most of these thoughts. I hope we can keep the man out of our schools...just a little bit too much interference for me. I agree that those teachers where wrong to take very symbolic songs and put different words to them.....they should be FIRED. No matter what is said...I make things correct with my granddaughters just so they know the difference between wrong and right. See you and the beautiful MRS next month. I'm looking to the future and it's out of sight, only in the end shall I take flight.
