Reminds me of the time I changed plans to go to Mexico at the last minute and went to Idaho instead, My explanation? They both end in O. I'm blond. What's your excuse?

Hi, Doug, That's funny, but rest assured, your geographic knowledge of the states is probably average or higher! Do you know where Indiana (The Crossroads of America) is? Mr. Richard and I, in the course of our academic careers, have lived in/worked for universities in NYC-NJ area, U of Chicago, Washington DC, Birmingham, AL (15 years!), U of Tennessee, U of Florida, Detroit Law School, and now IU. I regret to admit to you that when I try to envision any state west of those areas, the image becomes a tad blurry. I suppose it boils down to: we know what we "need" to know. IN NYC--you pretty much have "it all"--the entire world is right there at your doorstep. Beyond that, just check your GPS.
