Maybe one of the reasons I don't like anything about politics.

Most people think of the major political parties when they think of politics, but I'm also reminded of the politics in the workforce. That constant maneuvering move up, even stepping on others to do it. That was one of the reasons I enjoyed the night shift so much.
It was just me and my staff there, and we didn't have to deal with the hierarchy trying to micromanage us.

Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

I know what you mean. I had to deal with it for years. My sister, a psych nurse, was like you. Always worked the 3 - 11 or 11 - 7 shifts. She says that if she worked the day shift she would have been fired for calling BS.

The workforce politics is also brainwashing. There were only 2 times I had low points in my career. They were both related to my getting caught up in things and competing for positions that, if I was honest with myself, I never wanted. Both times I got the job and had to deal with the outcome I finally found a spot that was me and actually had a comfortable time the last 10 years I worked for others.

I love politics. It's a fascinating study in human dynamics, often leading to the hilarious circus that is the conservative movement on the way to separating ultimately good from evil. The tough part though is the inability of many in the masses too ignorant to grasp how they are in fact controlled. We see that today in America to what is now being marginalized into a fringe element that will ultimately evaporate...like evil often does.
I have to agree about the circus. I, who never watch political things, landed on the second debate while trying to decide which recorded program to watch. I found it so amusing I watched the rest of it. It was almost on script for the SNL skit that had aired the night before. (I usually watch SN. I attempted to watch the third debate thinking that it would be equally entertaining, but it wasn't. I lost interest and went back to watching recorded SiFy.

I also agree that most of what we see is fringe elements with media hype. Unfortunately most people, on both sides, get caught up in it and work themselves into a frenzy over nothing. No matter who wins they will not be able to do much without legislative cooperation, something neither is likely to get. It boils down to, as Shakespeare said "much ado about nothing"

So true. It would be a much better world without them.

Hi Spirit: I'm very interested in politics and find every aspect of it fascinating. If I was more confident and a better talker I'd probably have gone into politics myself. To be honest I don't trust politicians, so I'm just grateful we live in a time where there are thousands of investigative reporters all across the country keeping their eyes and ears open and reporting to the people exactly what our politicians are up to.
