The Difference

Once again I found the perfect meme after responding to another blog. I always wonder why this is. Synchronicity, or just the fact that I am focused on something so see that was always there?

This is excellent and why I do not care much for 'religion'.... but I do not like to see people denigrate it wholesale.

Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

You make a couple of good points.

I do not feel faith is necessary for Spirituality either. If it were it would discredit many spiritual experiences that happen to non believers.

My own personal experience with Christianity is similar to yours - that eventually structured religion limits spiritual growth. It was a starting point for me but when I had some serious spiritual experiences I out grew it's limits much as a child outgrows shoes. What once provides comfort and support now restricts. However I feel that some individuals, like my mother, a sister and oldest daughter find life impossible without structure to guide them, not just in matters of spirituality but in all areas of life. This is how I arrived at my current place where I feel any religion can help with spiritual experiences but that spiritual experiences are not dependent on any single process.

This is interesting I suppose, but its kind of hard to categorize something that is false as interesting. So I'm not really sure what the heck this means? It's just a blob of nothingness.
From the little I can deduct about you from what you reveal in blogs I see you as one of those who still need the structure of religion for spirituality. That is OK and you are certainly not alone. If you were we would not have such a proliferation of religions. In reality you fall in with the majority of humans.

I agree. If we think about it much our small group here can't even agree on the simplest things we try to express to each other in writing. Sadly I think we are a fairly normal representation of humans. Boggles the mind to think that we could think another's interpretation of an interpretation of 3 translations of oral history could give us appropriate step by step directions. We humans like quibbling over the details so much we miss the message.

the difference, doesn't have to be, unless belief blindness is involved. the great spirit resides in all of us. we connect with our thoughts, anytime, anywhere.
Definitely fits with my thoughts. The only thing I would add is that emotion, or heart, is what leads us to the connection. For me I "feel" and understand the experience which I am very limited in my ability to express.

Exactly. When you identify with unpopular non mainstream beliefs as I do you learn to let the insults and stabs just roll off. One of the things I am always grateful for is that I live in a society where, even if there is verbal abuse and discrimination on a regular basis there is not a actual physical threat to those who do not "fit". I wish my skills at putting my emotional and spiritual experiences in writing were better so I could share the feelings of always being belittled and treated badly due to spiritual beliefs. Fortunately though in the end none of this effects our spirituality in any way other than to strengthen us.
