The True Definition of A Crone

The term crone is often used in a derogatory manner. This is not what it means at all. It is a Pagan term used to define the latter 3rd of a woman's life. It is a time when she is free from the responsibilities of procreation and mothering. In addition to enjoying the peace, freedom, satisfaction and contentment of this stage in life she has the responsibility to pass on the wisdom she has learned from experiencing life and knowledge of the elders to the younger generations. I am one of the first to admit that we would never know this from what we see here on SFF but fortunately there is more to life, mine at least. In my world being the crone, or family matriarch is an honor and I happily and responsibly accept.

That is about the same time my predecessors were pretty much wiped out for our beliefs. I could go on about the history of religion and how Christianity distorted our beliefs and used them for male domination of a previously feminine controlled spiritual / cultural system but other than a few of us that see it as important to our belief systems it's is just a bunch of useless historical information since not much of it effects much about today.

PS you do know that Wikipedia has no system of fact checking or quality control but it is still useful for a beginning point of information.

fortunate in many ways. First of all that our families remained close enough to know each other. then that they value us and lastly becasue we are still enact in body and mind enough to fulfill our roles. .

It is sad that at least some did not remain in touch. I am still in touch with all of my cousins on my mother's side although the older ones have passed. Unfortunately there are some on my dad's side that I am not close to but I never really knew them and never even met a couple. My dad was the black sheep of his family until he passed so that limited contact with much of his relatives, I could search them out I suppose but there are so many from my mom's side that they keep my as busy as I can be.

My dad more or less rebuilt family and my 3 sisters, our children and grandchildren keep in contact. Being the elder now it's like being their link in time.

Interesting you would say "mom of choice". Most of us do have 2 families, our biological one and then our "heart" family. The heart family is what we call our tribe.

And now that we are the old women dispensing kisses and knowledge of nature. Pretty cool.
