Reclassification

Most of us have or have had a "Christmas Sweater". I haven't worn one in years but I still have 2 packed away with the holiday decorations. The last several years I looked at them and thought "Maybe some day" and put them back in the bin. They also serve as padding to protect the more fragile things.

I can't remember when I got them but think it was some time in the 90's. Decorated sweaters were the rage and I worked in an office in a very old building and it was always cold. I think I may have last worn one when I lived in my house, some 8 years or more ago when the grands were little and loved the details on it.

The "some day" of usefulness finally came but not the way I would have thought. My needed one for an "Ugly Sweater" contest they were having where she works. What was once a pretty fashionable item is now an ugly collectors item.

makes you wonder where we fit in these days.

Give it another year or so and 'ugly sweaters' could well become a 'must have' fashion item again :- ) Perhaps I'm out of touch but 'vintage/shabby chic' is still the current rage? Must admit I personally like the stylish femininity associated with vintage fashion (revamped).

My kids have been convinced I need a keeper for several years now but I tell them I have a passport and an American Express card so good luck trying to find me.

I think the "ugly" term comes from the current trend to sleek and plain. Since that doesn't appeal to me I remain a "tie dye hippie"

It's a mixed bag on the shabby chic around here. The rally trendy folks are doing 50's stuff. A sister in law looked like an old 50's picture at Thanksgiving. I do like some of that but will draw the line at the long line bra, girdle and stockings needing garters.

I was wondering if anyone would catch that! I thought about cropping them out than figured nah - not worth the time and effort. They are my winter version of bare foot. I hate shoes and only wear them when I have to!

The it seems my daughter's work party is right in step. Now if you want an ugly sweater just give me an unadorned one and I'll create one that will top any ugly. When I wore these my daily dress was a sweater or jacket becasue the building was old, damp and always cold. I chose the sweater for times I wanted to be a bit more feminine or casual looking and the blazer on days a more professional look was needed.

On a cold day they are not ugly. And they are easily traced if stolen. lol

Judgment Day will be interesting - and all paths lead there.

Excellent point. I never considered the anti theft factor.

I had completely forgotten about the fuzzy sweaters and stirrup pants. The fuzz always made my eyes water but I wore them anyway.
