Speaking of Photos

Here I am with my new chain saw. Not my most glamorous moment or best shot but this is exactly who I was and what I looked like this afternoon.

Success. The years of hedge overgrowth will soon be history!

Now if I could get my chainsaw thru TSA..........
Doctor said either get more weight bearing exercise or take medication for osteoporosis. I'm not taking that stuff becasue I don't want the side effects. I can't stand the thought of wasting the effort running on a treadmill like a hamster on his wheel so I figured I'd amp up the work instead of paying someone to do it. Like you said "too much for the nippers"

Spirit, what a huge hedge. How on earth do you manage to look so gorgeous even using a chainsaw??

Awesome!!! Be careful with that thing. LOL
I suppose I could also use it for home defense when / if you anti gun folks take our current defenses away. I'd probably need a cordless model for that though. Now you've got my mind on a role here imagining chain saws as a substitute for guns. Wondering how many states will remain open carry with respect to chain saws? Picturing it mounted in the back window of a pick up.................... OK, I'll stop now.

It is huge, old and the branches are very thick. That's why I needed to do the chain saw. I started out with the "Nippers" as MrsJoe calls them but didn't have enough strength to cut through the them.

As for "gorgeous" - not sure about that but I can hope that in addition to keeping my bones strong the work exercise might help me at least look the best I can at this age.

I use (2) 50 ft extra heavy duty extension cords that I was using for the weed wacker and hedge trimmers so can get around all I need here. I needed a lighter weight one so I could raise it up to get high branches. Electric eliminates the weight of the gasoline and it is much cleaner.

I am going to be next month's centerfold in PlowBoy.

This is one of the things I love about where I live. All of this coexists peacefully with the glamour of the red carpet.

I would like to agree here with Mr Dan, and add.. a woman mowing her lawn. Who says ladies can't do these things!
Looking good spirit BTW. Looks like you have a Good Saw. Maybe add some ear plugs too?!

Excellent suggestion. I will use the ear protectors I have for the firing range. They are pink!

No lawns to mow here in CA but my mom did hers until she was in her late 80's. Seems I come from a long line of women who were active but did not want to waste our efforts on machines.

Glasses are safety glasses that I also use at the firing range. My husband used to have a complete face shield which is probably a better idea some need to look for one. Never thought about the ear protection needto mentioned it. Have it so will use it. the noise is nothing compared to some of the larger rifles but it is loud enough to not be good for the ears.

It's a 14 inch self oiling chain saw. I have ( 2) 50foot industrial weight extension cords. It is just what I needed tackle this huge job.

It's just like a bigger hedge trimmers. Actually it's easier in some respects because it doesn't choke on the bigger stuff.

You go lady!!! Before I married honeybunz I had on my profile that she did not have to drive a tractor but a cold drink of water on a hot day in the field would be nice or a bowl of homemade vegetable soup on a cold winter day would also be nice.

Now, on the caution side; the chainsaw will cut you leg off quicker than it will cut a small limb off. Never turn loose of a chainsaw with you left hand when it is running, always turn loose with the right hand, it has the throttle in that handle.

Good to know about the left right thing. So far straight ahead is all I have attempted.

I also make a mean vegetable soup. When I had the family at home I would keep left over vegetables in a large bag on the freezer. When it was full i'd make some bean stock, add the vegetables and seasoning, and some times some bacon grease, make some homemade bread and get a couple of meals out of it. The kids never realized they were eating left over veggies.
