The Real Reason Behind the Planned Parenthood Controversry Yesterday was a work day which means lots of alone driving time. I look forward to this part of my schedule. Recently I found some old cds and began listening to them. One of my favorites is Judy Small, an Australian folk singer / political activist from the 80's. Most of her songs are as relevant today as they were when she recorded them. This one in particular explains a lot. Most of the anti planned parenthood proponents are men, as most politicians still are. This silly ditty called "The IPD" explains why they are so against things. If this information every gets out............ THE I.P.D I`ll sing you all a song about a wondrous new device The nation`s latest contraceptive plan That funny little object they call the IUD Has recently been changed to fit a man CHO: It`s the IPD, the IPD It may not feel too good to you but it`s not hurting me So every time the pain begins to fill your eyes with tears Remember I put up with it for years They tested it on whales and they tried it out on mice They used it in the poorer parts of town It`s the cleverest invention since the automatic lift It`s guaranteed to never let you down (CH It was proven to be safe for the average human male Though testing showed some minor side effects There were two died of infection and six were sterilized But only ten percent were too depressed (CHO: By the...) But you know some people are never satisfied So scientists are working once again They`ve got something even better than the good old IPD It`s called the morning after pill for men It`s the pill, it`s better than the IPD It may not be too safe but we`ll just have to wait and see So put away your worries and put away your fears Remember I put up with it for years Spiritwoman ^i^ |

I recall the old days when, no matter how good looking you were, you had ABSOLUTELY NO CHANCE of getting your leg over unless you were using or wearing some kind of protection. Unprotected s-e-x is one of the banes of modern society. Just my very humble opinion. Alfie...

Long been one of my complaints. I always took car of protection when I did not want children becasue I knew that it would ultimately become my body and my problem but most of the men of my youth did not even give things a consideration. I remember my first partner used a condom a time or 2 then stopped. Never did come up with a good reason for that. Spiritwoman ^i^

the song and blog are neither pro or anti abortion. They are about what women have to suffer in order to prevent pregnancy and the fact that men probably would not put up with the risk and difficulty involved. Spiritwoman ^i^

Interesting interpenetration but my blog and the song address male lack of responsibility rather than abortion. from everyone's reactions it looks like I should have come up with a different title. Spiritwoman ^i^

I think most of us have friends who agree with our positions on controversial issues simply becasue they are the people we are comfortable and can be ourselves with. Except for a few masochists most people do not want to spend time arguing with others and commonality is what attracts us to others. Spiritwoman ^i^

While there is no waiting period here in ca but there is usually at least 2 weeks of processing time as well as counseling etc. between application and procedure I have not had an abortion either and unless it was a medical necessity would not make that choice. I even adopted. However it is not my place to decide for anyone else. Spiritwoman ^i^

Hi Spirit: Recently a law was passed in Canada requiring that all public school students must start their formal s*x education in school at a very early age. This education covers every aspect relating to s*x, and starts in their first or second year of school. In each grade the topics get more and more personal. These are aspects of s*x such as homos*xuality, oral s*x, mast*rbation, pregnancy, etc. Hopefully in the future, all this information will make a big impact on society and there will be less unwanted pregnancies.

Spirit, it seems to me that there is a ton of misinformation circulating for years about pregnancy. You even hear adult male politicians saying the weirdest things about s*x, birth control, pregnancy that are just not true. Remember the politician who said recently that women who are r*ped can't get pregnant because their body knows when it is r*pe and won't let them get pregnant? The 'rhythm method' is total b.s. too but so many people still believe a woman can only get pregnant two days a month, but what they don't seem to know is the truth that sperm can stay alive inside a woman's body for up to two weeks. So for me the more s*x education in the schools the better.
