We certainly do have our share of mean minded folks on the SFF blogs, don't we?

Alfie...

It only takes a drop of ink to make a million people think. There are many stories.

This makes me smile.

I think this is true for some others, especially the one I know.

I found myself aging makes me feel calm and kind. As you have noticed, I ignored all those who always bully us here...hehehe!

I like the image you posted Spirit.

Thanks,

Betty

Well according to the mrs, I am becoming more mellow and patient.

As soon as I posted this I thought about the teeth thing. I think we do get more impatient becasue we realize our time here is limited and don't want to waste what we have o a lot of nonsense.

i think it's all of what you said plus the fact that life is just so complicated these days - another 5 page form to fill out, a billing error to deal with etc.

I try to set short term goals to accomplish every day to help me keep it balanced. Not much but things that I need to do in addition to the regular stuff. Today's was a 3 page catch up e-mail to an old friend that is in the midst of cancer treatment, tomorrows is to get the felt cover for the hard copy of my nephew's wedding ceremony cut and stitched, Monday's is to re fill out and file my son's social security papers, etc.

It has always been hope that drives me. For its God. When I find myself in the midst of a struggle I stop and try to find God in the situation. Over the years it has become easier to identify the wisdom and the grace. I never expected that to happen...the obvious joy of deepening faith. Boogie is right, it takes an effort to not become more cynical as we age. I see a tremendous amount of promise in people younger than me. That gives me hope. But I do admit that looking the other way is not nearly as rewarding and that makes me sad. I pray about that.
God, as I see him / her has given us the task of learning to deal with our human nature, or I should say this was done in conjunction with our soul when we set our goals for what we wanted to learn from this lifetime.

We certainly do and for many it isn't just a "bad day" but a way of life.

Granny Clampet, one of my favorite characters from the TV shows of my youth. Actually she was more strong than mean but she could take care of herself.

In truth most people age pretty much as they have live. their personality traits just become more pronounced.

I'm not sure what I have become. It could be mellow but then it could be just getting lazy.

Hi Spirit: For me it's just the opposite. Maybe it's getting older, or maybe because I have been through two life threatening illnesses, but I think I'm more compassionate and tolerant of other people now.

I dont know about meaner, but I'm more indifferent.

You have a lot of reclusive company. I'm not sure why this is but as we age our interaction with "the world" becomes more and more limited. The electronic age has made this so much easier. We can keep up with things, even keep in touch without the degree of emotional involvement. Maybe we just value peace more.

Going through major illnesses and dealing with our own mortality takes energy. I think going through that makes us far more aware of what is really important and we are able to let go of what isn't.

I like this explanation. The older we get the less things matter, especially things that don't involve us directly.

I'd like to think that's not the case, Spirit. I try to let more things go than before. Some things do get to me but they always have.
