Question For The Creative Folks

We have many creative people here, artists, poets, musicians, writers just to name a few. As many know I am usually extremely creative, doing, making, designing etc. Even my dreams are creative and colorful.

The past few weeks have been one of those times when more mundane things things need doing have come at me faster than I could take care of them, leaving little room for solitude or creative activities. When this happens I get restless even though I am going non stop, socially withdrawn, which is definitely not me, bored, restless and on edge.

There is a solution though - I have to get back to creating. The past 2 days I finally got back to my projects. I got a variety of ground cover (drought resistant) plants in to cover the dead areas in the front of the house Finished the final painting in a series of 3 to add some color to side of the house without permanently altering the normal paint. Although my energy remains low at least my enthusiasm is returning. Seems I need to be creating something to feel alive and awake.

I'm wondering if others are effected this way when kept from their creative expression.

That's a very interesting post, Spirit. When I'm writing a story, I feel inspired and I get distracted from other things in my life. That's usually a good thing. Unfortunately, there are often times when I can't write due to a block or lack of inspiration. I don't get the rush I get while writing and I miss that. I'm luckier than most, because I can always work on a book cover or something that isn't as time consuming and doesn't require a new idea to come into my head.

I'm afraid that my creative instincts are currently running at around ZERO! I am taking some pills for the prostate and they are making me feel really crappy. I don't feel much like doing anything at all and there are so many things I could be doing.

It only takes a drop of ink to make a million people think. There are many stories.

I can usually tell when there's a full moon: the desire to go out and play some music is intense.

I remember doing things like that when I had a job that required me to write reports, the most tedious and less creative of which was a month statical report. I was trying to learn graphics via the old WrofPerfect at the time. My manager got some interesting looking documents.

Sorry to hear that. Check to see if they are beta blockers. One of their side effects is just what you described. Check with your Doc as there are other kinds available.

Unfortunately next full moon isn't until May 5th. Interestingly there are many rituals to celebrate the full moon that include going out and playing music, but probably not the same way as you have in mind.

Writing is indeed creative and 8 babies................ Now that is a job in itself.

I think we all need deadlines or we wouldn't get much done.

Interesting approach to the painting job. I have 2 rooms that need it and maybe the little at a time might be the answer.

Hi Spiritwoman........Great blog. In my case I do not have to be physically working on a painting or drawing for my creative juices to flow. I can be running an idea through my head in preparation for making a painting.

If something happens that prevents me from focusing on an idea to paint or painting itself......like an emergency or my children are having problems. I will get a bit down and moody, restless and withdrawn as you do.
Wow - your reaction to the tasks of life getting in the way sounds just like mine.

I like the way you describe it as the have to's outnumber the want to's. I thought we wouldn't have any have to's in retirement. Silly me!

I pretty much am into process of creation and when I don't, I am getting moody, sick or negative. Even when some pieces of what I do, cannot find the mean to bring them together or finish a construction, am frustrated until I find the solution...
So there are 2 obstacles? one its something else that obstructs the time to create, 2nd it's more related to creating a piece and called neurosis of creation...
