The Past Comes Knocking

I am a vivid dreamer and also a believer that our dream time is significant. Whether you are the scientific type who sees dreaming as the subconscious at work or the spiritual type who sees it as messages from the other side, dreams provide significant information, in my case embellished with colorful details.

Last night I had one of those dreams that leave me exhausted. In the dream someone was at the door but due to recent renovations I could no longer see out to see out to see who it was. I opened the door a crack and asked who was there. The “person” tried to force the door open but I was successful in pushing it shut and locking it. Later on the man of the house (I never did clearly see him) brought in a package that was left at the door. It contained used clothing. Eventually I recognized it as some clothes I had and loved but were long gone because I had them at my heaviest and am now 3 – 4 sizes smaller. Interesting because my “expanded state” was years ago. In the dream this reminded me about an alternative living situation I had as an escape years ago but forgot about. I returned there and found that the “guest house” was still deserted but homeless people moved in. I looked around to try to identify some of my things but wasn’t successful. I couldn’t sort them out from the other people’s stuff. I went to leave but when I opened the back door there was a huge drop off. My was at the bottom and telling me I had to find some ropes to climb down. In the process of looking I went out another door and went around to look at the drop off from this angle. When I did there was no drop off. It was all level ground. Then I was back home I noticed that my newly renovated house was sagging and the floor in the living room was unstable.

What a complicated way to remind me that you can’t hide from the past. It will come knocking on your door. However, it may not be the way you remember it. Things change. I’m not sure what the “big” clothes refer to unless it means that I was far more significant in the past than I am now or perhaps that my “expanded state” was my way of hiding from a couple of issues back then. Next message – Things may not be as difficult as they seem. We just need to look at them from a different perspective. The third reminder is that you can polish things up and give a good appearance but if the basic structure has weaknesses they will threaten everything.

No doubt things I needed to be aware of but I’m worn out from this trifecta of dreams!

It seems to contain many of the elements of your past and present busy life that you have mentioned.

I don't have those full, vivid dreams as often as I used to. But I always enjoy sorting them out, figuring out their message, after I wake up.

I don't dream very often nowadays, but I used to. I guess when we get older we have passed through some kind of door and we don't need the dreams (or nightmares) to guide us like they used to do.

It only takes a drop of ink to make a million people think. There are many stories.

I am learning how to lucid dream, or trying to anyway. What are your thoughts on that. Have your experiences been positive or negative?
Not in a while. I use to do it often enough to be getting pretty good at it then I had some life changes and didn't have enough alone time for it. Odd thing is that I dated a guy on and off who lived in his hangar (he had a really nice bedroom suite built off to one side and all of the . Every time I spent the night I would lucid dream and wander around the hangar. I don't know why becasue I am not at all interested in airplanes or motorcycles other than to use them as transportation but it seemed his energy mixed with mine was a real accelerant.

Yes, the ADD brain never turns off. I dram every night but usually not so vividly. when it is this "real" I figure it is something I need to pay attention to.

Interesting - I haven't slowed down yet in the dream department. I sort of hoped getting really really old would be drifting int the dream world more than more.

Good blog, all my dreams seem to be in the past whether they are just dreams or nightmares.
Interesting. Mine have elements of the past and present and things that so not have time references.

Hi Spirit: It's amazing that you can remember so many details of your dream. I usually forget my dreams but I have had one dream over and over all my life. I am descending a huge stairway and there is a crowd of people at the bottom. I start descending the stairs, but soon my feet are inches above the ground and I'm sort of flying and dancing down the stairs and everyone is applauding for me, as no-one else can do this. Must have had this dream a hundred times.

That is a cool dream. You rise above them and they love it. I don't always dream in this detail. Most of the it is bits and pieces that may not even be connected, kind of like how my brain works during the waking state only with visuals. As for details, I don't always remember all of them but they do stick with me. I can usually tell you about the colors etc. of the objects in my dreams.
