Throwback Thus - Way Back

This is one of the few formal photos I have of grandparents. My mother (the baby) with her parents. Mom was born in 1921 so I am guessing this was taken in 1921 or 1922. It is such a typical family pose and the clothing is so fitting for the time period.

Wonderful old shot, lots of precious memories in that picture.

It only takes a drop of ink to make a million people think. There are many stories.

What a treasure that old photo is. So interesting are your grandmother's suit and shoes and the elaborate chair she's sitting on. Your mom is a little cutie. Even today, so many men don't seem to know how to tie a proper Windsor knot in their tie, but your grandfather knew how to do it way back then.

My grandfather was very fastidious about his appearance. In later years, when he could afford it, all of his suits were custom made on his trips to see family in Italy.

It is. There weren't many but my grandfather felt good photos were important. I am glad he did.

For some reason I have always liked long skirst and wore them often, even when I was young and could get away with a mini skirt. I love the way they feel swishing around my calves and ankles.

His "almost smile" was his trademark, even on his passport photos.

Poor mom had "health legs" all of her life. As a teen and then again in her final years she was small and slender but managed to have "thunder thighs". One of my early childhood memories is of her exercising to try to get rid of them.

Babies hair patterns are certainly interesting. My youngest had enough in the back for a pony tail but was bald back to her mid head section. One of my grand daughters had regular baby hair with one long swatch.

I consider it very fortunate that my grandfather saw the importance of documenting his life. He did this primarily to share with his family in Italy but in the process he left his descendants a wonderful gift.
