Photo Monday - Sunset

Living near western facing beaches for may years (a few year right on the beach) spectacular sunsets become sort of routine. They change do to so many factors. There is always something new.

I love Mexico My "second home" was San Filipe, then Mazatlan, then Puerto Vallarta. Their semi tropical and tropical climates are reflected in some of the most famous sunsets in the world.

Sometime ordinary settings can be quite spectacular. Around the holidays last year I was leaving the local outlet mall parking lot just as sunset was concluding. It was one of those rare moment of light. The sky was dark enough at "top" for a few stars to show but light was till reflecting off of the clouds, light enough at the horizon to still provide some daylight and the parking lights on timers had just come on. Forget about hurrying home to make dinner. I had to get a photo.

When I got home and looked at the photos I got a bonus. There was just enough moisture in the atmosphere for the parking lot lights to have halos.

I liked this photo so much I painted it and liked the painting so much I had a "skin" made of a photo of it for my tablet. You never know when the ordinary might become extraordinary.

Very effective Spirit, I like the way you captured the halo's in the painting. Thanks for posting.

It only takes a drop of ink to make a million people think. There are many stories.

Your painting for me is better than the photo itself!

Good job Spirit!

I do too - probably because I put some work in it.

I particularly like your interpretation of the actual photograph.
I was able to make changes to accommodate my visual interpretations. Probably much as you enjoy modifying your photos.

Yes, everything sort of fell into place for the photo. The painting is my style.
This one had buildings and I have a real problems with lines, limits etc.

You're welcome. It was so unusual I had to stop and get a picture.

This particular variety of palm (Mexican fan palms) does that. They are not as slender and delicate as some but they are straight and tall, appearing to reach for the sky.

Naturally they have a shaggy cover of dried fronds on the trunks but the custom here is to keep them groomed.
