Shopping?

The past couple of days have been take care of business days for me. I even did an intentional grocery trip, complete with list and shopped the 3 sources in the right order to make the most of my money. I usually only do this when I am expecting guests or cooking for a holiday. I know it is by far the best way to shop and not waste money.

I used to do it this way all of the time when I had a family and a tight budget but these days my grocery shopping usually consists of a quick drop in to the nearest market ( the only one near by) or what ever one I might find myself near when I go into town on other business. I hate grocery shopping so usually don't until I need something. Add to this the fact that appetite diminishes significantly with age and we do have a couple of local produce stands near home.

Just wondering if this change in practice is me getting lazy or if others who are now in the " free" stage of life do the same.

We do shop a lot, every time we go for shopping we always forget something. As of now coming from the movie we went to WinCo to get some dish detergent and clothes softener, then we past by Costco to eat a piece of Pizza.

We are retired so shopping for us is a nice time to spent our time.

I leave the shopping to my lady Ann, she is pretty efficient at it and I have the utmost trust in her doing the right thing. I hope she didn't forget the beer again today. ANN!!!! Are you there???

Alfie...

It only takes a drop of ink to make a million people think. There are many stories.

Maybe I don't do the big shopping much anymore is becasue like you I like fresh produce and we have2 stands just down the road and as you know here in CA they are open year round. Sometimes the produce isn't local but it is purchased daily at the main produce market in LA.

I'm not a morning person and out here the temp is around 100 most days this time of year. The one local market is so cold I have to bring an over shirt if I am going to be long. Hum - maybe I should spend more time there but then I don't mind heat as much as most - as long as I don't have to work out in the sun.

I can't imagine you and Don needing to find ways to spend time. The piza from Costco is just about perfect though. Just the right amount. Unfortunately out here everything except the one manor grocery store and a couple of mom and pop things are about 25 miles away. Even going out to eat is a trip unless we want to eat at IHOP or one of the few small Mexican places near by.

Maybe you are like my mother. She are like a truck driver up until 2 weeks before she passed at 93 and she was slim and petite all of her life. It was amazing to spend time with her and my sis and watch this very old tiny person eat more than both sis and I together.

I find myself doing lists more these days, otherwise I end up with at least a dozen things I don't need and not the one I went for in the first place.

Know what you mean about a man with an appetite. My husband was the same - ate anything that didn't eat him first until chemo. Even then on his good days He would eat lots of whatever tasted OK that day.
