Nebula Painting

I finished this this morning. It is part of a series I plan that will include a couple of other nebula, the sun with a large solar flare, a couple of galaxies and maybe some other celestial things.

Another opportunity to share the feeling of creation. I am sure the other artists, artisans, musicians and poets here can identify with that. There is no better "high".

Hi Spirit: I like this one. I can't draw or paint but I tried my hand at painting a big canvas a couple of years ago. I made it three dimensional by gluing on some small rhinestones and adding some glitter in places and it really turned out nice. One person said it was so good that I could probably sell it for several thousands of dollars. I've seen three dimensional paintings where textured fabrics and objects were glued on the canvas, then painted over and just become part of the painting and they really make it interesting.

I don't paint, but I enjoy looking at them. Is that a space critter on the right?

It only takes a drop of ink to make a million people think. There are many stories.

I often go to a couple of web sites that have pictures of nebula and other celestial stuff. Never fails to be uplifting and humbling at the same time.

I especially like this work of yours. The color blend is very good.
thank you - Color blend is one of the things nebula do so well. I have been working on reproducing it for a while.

Nothing like the Hubble photos to both fill us with awe and put us in our place in the grand scheme of things at the same time.

Swirling gasses and particles certainly do need depth. I had to work a bit at learning how to do this. I have a big challenge coming up in the next photo I want to paint. We'll see how that goes.

Spirit, I LOVE IT!!! I love vivid colors with a tiny splash of lighter blocking.
I chose this one to paint for the vivid colors. Some nebula are very colorful like this one while others are almost all shades of grey.

They certainly can. Just about everyone who has seen my nebula paintings see different things in them even though they are reproductions of actual photos. Try as we humans will we can not compete with the awesomeness of things that already exist.

Just a reproduction of what the Universe has to offer us once we get past the limitations of earth.

I haven't done much of it except for as class projects but the 3 dimensional stuff is fun. I did do an outside painting a couple of years ago that was created from thick paint and a pallet knife but that is as close as I have come.

No telling what it is as it is actually part of the nebula. My guess is that it is either a close star reflected and distorted by tho other materials or just a spot of yellow material.

Just a reproduction of what the Universe already created. This particular nebula had those contrasting shapes and colors in it, others do not.
