Weigh In

Time for a vet visit and weigh in. Success! Kitty lost the equivalent of 1.5 pounds (for me) in the past month. It's been pretty painless. I got an automatic food dispenser that divides his food up into 3 feedings. He doesn't mind and often does not even finish a feeding.

I'm not saying he is lazy but once he is out of the carrier and on the scale he just lays there until we move him. Today the vet just moved the scale and did everything with him in it.

I was looking at his paperwork when I got home. He is a "senior", has arthritis in his spine, needs to lose weight to relieve the stress on his back and needs dental work. Not so different from my medical reports.

Kitty looks mighty comfortable. He looks like he likes just where he is and is thinking, leave me alone, this is my comfort zone.

Like all of us. Then he is 13, which is pretty old for a cat.

He is hiding it in the scale. He weighs 18 lb and is suppose to weigh 12.

He sort of does. My son in law always thought he wasn't very smart, but it's the opposite. He watches the situation and does not move unless he needs to.

Most of mine have too but this one figures it's all good as long as he gets attention.

Isn't this just great! Your cat obviously has got the vet visits down to an art!
He does. So much so that he became their poster child. His picture is on their website.

He thinks he is - and doesn't care who disagrees. So typically cat.

Hi Spirit: What a beautiful silky looking kitty. He is probably the feline equivalent of Rock Hudson. lol Once the vet told me my 7 lb. Papillon had to lose weight, but as it was she only ate a small handful of dry dog food each day and I couldn't see how to give her any less than that. The vet said to just leave out the tiniest amount of food each day, maybe 3 little pellets less, and it worked.

My vet said something similar. Gradually reduce the amount of food. My guy is at the minimum amount he should eat. The automatic dispenser works well. Like most cats he has come to know the sound of it dispensing. Even if he only nibbles a piece or 2 he responds.
