Offended by Merry Christmas???????? Today I heard someone object to another person saying “Merry Christmas” It is hard for me to believe that people are offended by the term. I am a Pagan but am happy that Christians give me their good wishes. I do not care what you call the occasion. I appreciate being included and thought of. My belief system is not picky. We believe that each individual should follow their own path and do not judge others for their choices. We appreciate and return good wishes and kind thoughts no matter what form they come in. I have always celebrated Christmas because it is an important day in the culture I live in. It’s fun and uplifting (the food and socializing aren’t bad either). I also celebrate Christmas with you for what it symbolizes – light in the darkness and hope. I’ll celebrate this with anyone in any form. I do my own spiritual rituals on solstice and celebrate Yule and welcome anyone who chooses to join me. In return for being wished Merry Christmas I will return the wish with enthusiasm and meaning because we believe that any kindness should be passed on three fold. Spiritwoman ^i^ |

I agree with both you and mrsjoe. Some people are just Miserable humans. Sad really. I wish anyone that chooses to enjoy the season "Happy Holiday". Bruja The wealth of a soul is measured by how much it can feel; its poverty by how little. W. R. Inge

I agree with your attitude, I believe we are all related and rejoice in all religion convictions and holidays. If a person is happy then I am happy for them. Merry Christmas.

Hi Spirit: I'm not a Christian, but I send out Christmas cards with a picture of a reindeer or a Winter scene on them and say Merry Christmas to people. Words and phrases change over the years I guess, because the only time you hear the word 'merry' anymore is at Christmas. No-one ever says they're 'gay' anymore either unless they're talking about being homosexual. lol

I don't send out Christmas cards but I do try to write a short story what had happen in my life this year (sorta news letter) in email to all my friends. With the coast of stamps and ect many people have quit send cards. Christmas is my favorite holiday for many reasons. One is our Savior was born whether it was not in the fall or in December. Two, sometime it is the only time some family all get together and finally I love to see all the pretty decorations and remember all the goodtimes in the past. So Merry Christmas to everyone who reads this and have a great time.

You are so right. These are likely the same people who chose to turn everything into an argument. Their Schroogness extends far beyond Christmas. Guess they all want us to be as unhappy as they are. They need to loosen up, tie one on, dance on the bar and smile and laugh for a change. They just might like it. Spiritwoman ^i^

Spirit, I agree with you and Ms Joe. Some people just want to attack for any reason they can find. For me, the Christmas story represents the coming of the light bringing with it hope. It is a tradition found in most cultures and this time of year has been celebrated for that reason way before Jesus was born in Bethlehem. Therefore, even though I call myself a follower of Jesus, I wish everyone a Merry Christmas. May you have a season full of joy, good friends, family and good times. May you be blessed by the lights, the decorations, and the sounds of the season. Lastly, may you find a measure of peace in your heart and body, no matter who or what you believe in. I know you are working towards this goal. May the spirit of the season lift your spirits. Spring and summer will follow. Spiritwoman ^i^

Although my family is close and gather often our Christmas celebrations are among the best - second only to Thanksgiving but these days it is all being rolled up into an extended time period. It's just a great time for us and should indeed be called a Merry Christmas" Spiritwoman ^i^

sw, I don't get it. Why would that someone get offended? I am not a Christian but have been greeted with wishes of Merry Christmas many times and I think it is nice of these people. Would anyone get offended if I greet him with Gong Xi Fatt Chai? Lee Live today as if it is your last For tomorrow will soon be in the past
