Pick up the Phone

There something I have found
Everybody's here, but no one's around

I weep and have dry tears
I cry but no one hears

I seek but do not find
So I can love in my mind

I wish, to try and make it real
but forget how to make it feel

I choose to be alone
it's safer, than to pick up the phone

Well,
I hope you folks don't take this too melodramatic.
I just saw in myself something, I needed to make a little more melodramatic to clarify it. I figured other may see the same thing.

mrsjoe,

I know, but is it really safer?

Not sure, if there's a right and wrong answer. I guess it's what I do, no matter what the subject, it's not the truth in the answer.... it's the honesty in the question.

If we don't choose to be alone...Then why don't we pick up the phone?

The less often a person makes the effort to get out and about, the more difficult it becomes.

It does take a conscious effort to get out in the world and rub elbows with folks.

My Mother chose to isolate herself. She read a great deal and kept a perfect house. I strongly feel that her severely limited interaction with others was a strong contributing factor to the development of dementia.

Socializing exercises two areas of the brain.... Processing of information you hear, and formulating a response to that information. Crossword puzzles and sudokus will not do that for you.

Being a recluse is not a healthy situation... imho.

It's a great big wonderful and exciting world out there!!
