A Non Partisan Blog...............but many will not think so. Mar 28, 2008 1:07 pm

.......As the news media so often reports of the dire circumstances in Iraq to promote the idea that we are wasting money and lives. This is certainly a different view from MajGen John Kelly, Commanding General 1st Marine Expeditionary Force (fwd). He has returned to Iraq after a 3 year absence. The opening paragraph of his open letter to readers of Leatherneck Magazine goes as follows...."I have just had the privilege of returning to Iraq for my 3rd tour. Privileged for a number of reason, not the least of which is to serve with fine young Americans in combat. The 2nd reason is that there is no greater honor for any man or woman than to protect one's country in time of grave danger, while wearing the nation's cloth. Finally, I do not think there can be anything more gratifying on this earth to participate in the freeing of a people from the grip of a tyrant, then helping those same people to realize the benefits of democracy. To actually exercise their god given rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness"...........He goes on to say that Al-Anbar was a province of hate and bloodshed. Daily firefights, murderous gangs roaming the streets and neighborhoods. He now describes his return as "shocking". Markets are now bustling, children are playing in the streets no longer fearful. When they spot a Marine on patrol they eagerly run to him with smiles and laughter shouting a few english words they have learned at schools previously closed because of violence. The enemy is not defeated but is on the ropes. It is now an enemy that is afraid to come out in the open for they know they will be met by not only tough young Americans but Iraqi police and security forces as well........The General sums it up effectively in his last paragraph. " Iraq is still a dangerous place, but nothing like it was only a short time ago. We should see this through because its the right thing to do, the American thing to do, and we have the new 'Greatest Generation' in just enough numbers willing to give up the comfort of their homes and defend us all while spreading freedom to a people who have never known it........

.....It is gratifying to me that we have leaders in our military like General Kelly. A man who puts aside his honor and credits those who serve under him. A man who has the vision and strength of character to face responsibility dead in the eye and say " I will not give in "..........God bless our warriors as they protect and serve you and I regardless of what you think about them and their efforts.

...The previous months issue of Leaherneck finally reported that there were no US Marine causalties in Iraq/Afghanistan. It wasn't that ;ong ago it covered an entire page. This month's issue I am sorry to report that there is one. A young Maine from Tunnel Hill Georgia.

John McCain Honesty or .........."Mis -Spoke" Mar 27, 2008 6:35 am

......The times I am away from Blogland, the front page moves so fast that unless you view all there is a good chance you will miss some blogs. Such was the case of the blog "John McCainisms". Some may consider them tongue in cheek but I call them truthful. In Iraq for 100 years? Seems truthful to me after all we've been in Cuba since 1898. We did leave Germany after WW1 guess what happened WW2. We now have been in Germany and Japan for 62 years, South Korea for 57 years. We maintain the 6 and 7th Fleets at sea year round. US Marines guard embassies in every major Capital throughout the world. So thanks for being honest Senator McCain...... The F--- you comment to a democrat in the Senate is as honest as you can get. There are many Democrats that I feel deserve such language. Another "McCainism" was about walking the streets of Baghdad, flanked by a security detail. I would certainly hope that a US Senator would be afforded that security when visiting a dangerous location. ........Well each one of his "isms" might not be well thought out or politically correct but each one is an honest statement. Unlike another Senator from NY who recently said that on a trip, when she was First Lady to war torn Bosnia, had to run with heads down to the awaiting vehicles because of sniper fire. Did not deny that statement when asked about it the next day. When video of her arrival in Bosnia showed a completely different account she quickly said she "Mis-Spoke". If you are in a combat area and you get shot at it is burned into your memory and to make a casual comment about it is over the top. She lied plain and simple. She has learned well from her Husband, until irrefutable evidence surfaces, deny deny deny. Everyone on this site, when it comes to a relationship, say they want honesty above any other trait. Come this November when its time to cast your ballot, put your vote where your mouth is..............

The War Our Military Cannot Fight...... Mar 26, 2008 4:33 pm

......About a week ago I wrote a Blog titled "The Real Cost of our War on Terror. What I did was to equate, by using a simple formula , what it cost me from my tax liability for 2007, to fund the war. By using that formula anyone can easily do the same. I expected to receive some negative comments as there is no shortage of those that are opposed to the War on Terror. However there were a few that were particular disturbing to me. The comments were that I was putting a price tag on the loss of life of our servicemen/women serving in that war. Nothing could be further from the truth. I served my Country in the US Marine Corps (2 tours in VietNam, and a host of deployments throughout the World) in undesirable situations. I know exactly, having participated in a few funeral details of fallen Marines, just what the cost of that life is. It is measured in sorrow and grief for the family and friends of each and every serviceman/woman. Their sacrifice is to be honored, appreciated, and never forgotten........I have said all this as there is an increase in anti-war zealots activities in this country. They plan and organize the disruption of our Armed Forces recruiting efforts. Degrade and vilify our Veterans organizations and employ scare tactics against our Churches and Government leaders and agencies........Just recently a Minnesota High School canceled a planned visit by a Veterans group that were to speak to students about service to their country in the U. S. Military. The reason the school's Principal gave was that he had received a few phone calls calling for the cancellation. An anti war group would visit the school and protest if he did not.The School administration caved in. .......These kinds of demonstrations and protests destroys our troop's morale and emboldens our enemies. All of our brave young men and women serving to provide safety and security and defend Freedom throughout the world do not ask for much, just a measure of respect from us for all that they do..........

"Morally Wrong"............Of Course it is, a Re-Think Mar 25, 2008 1:13 pm

.....Recently I wrote A blog about Senator Clinton and "Morally Wrong".....It was about the Senator conveniently leaving out some facts about a young girl and her baby dying because she was denied medical care. She said it was "morally wrong" to deny those in need......The blog had many views and a host of replies one way or the other. This prompted me to re-think the situation and I must confess now that the Senator's point has some validity. The United States has a dismal record among industrialized countries on infant mortality. We are 28th behind the Czech Republic, Portugal, Greece and many more. The case can easily be made that a cause of our bad showing is not that we have sub standard medical care but because our pre natal care is not available to some women. Well there are probably a lot of reason for this both economic and social. However all those reasons aside it was not the fault of the baby. I have now concluded that any woman who cannot secure pre natal care and the baby was to die because of that is just another form of Abortion. As a nation we cannot be so crass as to overlook the fact that for whatever reason young women get pregnant and are unable to obtain pre natal care. We must find a way to provide a safety net for these women. A baby was created and its criminal because of circumstances beyond that baby's control causes its demise. We view Abortion Demand to be Pro-Choice, but the baby has no choice. That young girl Senator Clinton spoke of should have had pre natal care for that reason. To me just like Abortion on demand is criminal so is someone unable to get pre natal care that puts the baby's life in jeopardy. I do not advocate socialized medicine but as a Country we cannot continue to ignore our infant mortality rate. We already ignore the fact that 1.3 million babies are killed each year by Abortion on demand lets try and save the ones we can.........

Misunderstanding Blogs and Comments............ Mar 24, 2008 9:25 am

.....Somebody had a blog in here that was about how the written word is misunderstood as there are no facial expressions, no pausing for effect, no interactions with the reader, no voice inflections. Our ability to reason gives us a tremendous advantage over other mammals to communicate by the written word. Our ability to apply our own experiences to a certain situations really is quite unique. With this particular ability comes pitfalls however. It is so easy to be misunderstood as many have a tendency to "read between the lines" putting more to the words than what was actually written. I have done this repeatably when commenting on other blogs because sometimes words and phrases are hard to understand what the writer intended. .......Some phrases that I have encountered in Blogs and comments really give me pause to think. Is this really what the author is saying? Example #1...Clinton was the last President to have zero debt. Not so, I know the writer meant deficit but many would not. ....Example #2 When you run out of clean water it is gone. Not so, the writer meant that polluting water is not a good thing but its done all the time, thats why we have water treatment facilities. Example #3 We are shipping jobs to Mexico. Not so, Industry is moving to Mexico and other locations is probably what was meant. Also just who is "We". The word we is like the word all, kinda inclusive. Example #4 All Mexicans speak spanish. Not so as All implies everybody. I am positive there is someone who is Mexican that does not speak spanish. Perhaps a new born baby?.......So when I reply to your blog I do the same thing that you do. I read only what I want to read. I look at the words and when they are not that clear and information is sketchy I base my comment on those words. Those opposing my views I welcome your comments. Often I come to realize why you have them. My only hope is that you will realize why I have mine.....

Slavery.........Its Coming Full Cycle. Mar 23, 2008 10:38 am

......In Americas history going all the way back to Colonial times, before our independence from Great Britain, we were bringing Africans to our shores. It was a deplorable situation and there is plenty of blame to go around as they were forcibly taken from their homelands. Once in America they were treated like one would treat children. They were viewed as childlike and unable to take care of themselves. They were given a place to live, given food to eat, given clothes to wear, treated when sick and when they misbehaved were punished, albeit harshly. All this in exchange for their loss of freedom and dignity all human beings are entitled to in a Democratic society. Slavery is a scar on Americas past that has healed and is fading to the point that it is no longer relevant in our society..........I have said all this of course to bring up a political point. I know everyone wants a caring compassionate Government that provides its citizens all the basic needs and wants. However the more the Government does it basically is viewing us as children. We are becoming a childlike society. Not capable of providing for ourselves. Those big white buildings in our Nations Capitol are no different than the big white plantation homes where the owner would sit sipping a mint julep satisfied in knowing he provides for the needs of his slaves........... When I look around today I see this all the time with one exception. Those being provided for are not required to work but they are slaves nonetheless. Go ahead and vote for the candidate who promises to take care of all your needs. One who will redistribute income and provide free health care, bail you out of your mortgage and do this and do that....When elected they will sit up there in Washington in those big white buildings sipping a mint julep satisfied and telling each of us look, we are taking care of all your needs. The American people wont be wards of the Government we will become Slaves of the Government............Is this what you really want?

Are You "Less Fortunate"..............be glad Mar 22, 2008 8:07 am

.......I have heard in Blogland as well as the candidates running for President the term "less fortunate". We must take care of those "less fortunate" than ourselves,....I have somehow been accused of not being as sensitive as I should be to people who are "less fortunate" than I. Well when you examine the term "less fortunate" it means that we all are "less fortunate" including me. I am certainly "less fortunate" than Bill Gates as is a host of others. Do I consider him insensitive because he does not care about my problems? Do I criticize him for having more than I? Of course not. ......No matter what anybody's position is in a capitalistic society we are all "fortunate" in one way or another. Some are more fortunate than others not less. Not so in a socialistic society. Everyone has the same amount, Socialism views everyone as economic equals. If I have more than you I am to give you my excess. In that type of society nobody is fortunate at all but slaves to the Government that provides all of their needs. You can now guess that I prefer to be "less fortunate" than not fortunate at all.........How about you?

How Should Voters Decide?............ Mar 21, 2008 12:33 pm
556 Views
......In a lot of political blogs I have written many say they do not vote the party but the person. Some say they are middle of the road or Independent. Some say they never for a Republican and some say they only vote for a Democrat.....How do we determine who to vote for? .........Once the Candidate is chosen by his or her political party at a convention, they with their party leaders will formulate a platform. This platform has many planks. This is what each candidate runs his election on so it is not really about the man/woman its about the party platform they run on. Read each plank from each party and make your determination from that because in reality we are electing a Democrat or a Republican. See which platform is clear on issues and which one soft pedals them. Which platform is factual and which is unclear...........Make your decision based on that because I don't care if the candidate is Santa Claus he/she will govern based on what that platform says. If its a muddled platform and not clear on the issues thats how the person elected will govern..........I do not want hope nor change or a new direction or any other fancy slogan. I want America restored to what it was and what it can be. A country of the rugged individuals who are just as compassionate with tough love than someone who thinks personal responsibility is not that important.......

Senastor Clinton .........".Morally Wrong" Mar 20, 2008 8:40 pm
2067 Views
....Recently before the Ohio primaries Senator Clinton was at some campaign stop and related the story of a young single woman who worked at a Pizza Parlor. Well lo and behold she became pregnant and going to a doctor she was told it would cost $100 a visit. Not having that money she never went back. She had complications and both her and her baby died. "It is 'Morally Wrong' for any young woman to be denied Medical care" Senator Clinton told the audience......This is a very touching story, but lets look a little deeper. Did she try to seek help from an unwed mothers clinic or some other charilable organization? We dont know. What we do know is that she was not married worked in a low paying job and engaged in risky unsafe sex. That behavior to me is "Morally wrong" in that Senator Clinton expects me by my tax dollars to provide this young woman medical care resulting from a pregnancy that she irresponsibly had.........The notion that anyone in this country can engage in irresponsible behavior and be bailed out by a government who confiscates my personal property, is the "Morally Wrong".........Just think Senator Clinton wouldn't it be amazing if persons actually exhibiting irresponsible behavior were held accountable for thier actions? Knowing there was no government program to bail them out? Gee perhaps people will think before they act. The "Moral Crisis" you claim America's in today is really not so, but the "Immoral Crisis" is alive and well. ................This blog was modified from the sentiments of Neal Boortz and I concur completely.....
