Small Town Crime Wave Jun 25, 2007 4:41 am

.....I grew up in a small town in Maine. It has a weekly newspaper that covers all the local news, like who won the latest spelling bee or the town hall needs painting. The section that amuses me the most is the "Police Blotter". They take the top heinous crimes committed that week and place them in that section for all to read. Here are a couple of my favorites:

....Deputy Davis while on patrol last night struck a Deer on Rt.100. Some significant damage was done to the left side headlight. The Deer fled the scene.

.... Mrs. Libby while at the local laundromat called 911 and reported that her husband had failed to show up to take her home. A deputy was dispatched and found Mr. Libby asleep. No charges were filed.

....Marion Winters of Dry Mills reported strange noises in her attic. A deputy was dispatched to investigate. It was found that a Skunk had recently given birth to 6 baby skunks and the residence was evacuated.

....I suppose I could go on with a lot more but I think you get the Idea. It sure was great to grow up there despite the obvious crime wave that always seemed to be prevalent. I really don't see how I survived all those heinous events happening all around me.......How about you? Did your small town have these kinds of problems?
.....Disclaimer: The names were changed in this blog to protect the innocent, any resemblance to any person is purely coincidental.

A Non Political Outrage...... Jun 23, 2007 7:26 am

.....Looking at the news the other day I read with interest how an off duty police officer in Haywood Ca. was at the home of his parents with his new baby. There was a knock on the door and he answered it with his baby cradled in his arms. He was confronted by a man who forced his way in to the home. A fight ensued between the intruder and the off duty police officer and the intruder was shot several times and pronounced dead at a local hospital. A clear cut case of self defense? Not so, as a poll was taken and 18% of responders felt the police office should be prosecuted. Additionally 16% felt the officer should receive some sort of disciplinary action. Can you believe this? There are actually people out there who feel that self defense is not an option when your life, family or property is threatened. How outrageous is this? The scary thought is that perhaps these same folks actually may one day sit on a jury..........and I thought Reid/Pelosi were outrageous........

Open Letter to Congress......... Jun 21, 2007 10:36 am
583 Views
.....This September Congress is requiring that General Petraus give an account of has there been significant progress in the war in Iraq. During the dark days of the American Civil War when it seemed as though the Union forces were unable to suppress the rebellion and many were in favor of "cut and run" Abraham Lincoln delivered a speech to the members of congress who thought the war was a lost cause. His words are as valid today as they were 144 years ago.

.... Two years ago the Republicans of the nation mustered over thirteen hundred thousand strong. We did this under the single impulse of resistance to a common danger, with every external circumstance against us. Of strange, discordant, and even, hostile elements, we gathered from the four winds, and formed and fought the battle through, under the constant hot fire of a disciplined, proud, and pampered enemy. Did we brave all then to falter now?-now when that same enemy is wavering, dissevered, and belligerent? The result is not doubtful. We shall not fail-if we stand firm, we shall not fail. Wise councils may accelerate or mistakes delay it, but, sooner or later, the victory is sure to come."..........A. Lincoln.

......So Members of Congress heed the lessons of long ago and do what is just. Protect us from threats, Keep us safe, Provide for our defense, for that is the constitutional mandate of which you must follow. For its not what I or my neighbor thinks. Not what some poll says. Do not sell out those principles for votes, make yourself worthy of the office for which you were elected to. Commit to winning this War on Terror not to run from it.

Nakid City Indiana....Wanna Go There? Jun 20, 2007 2:09 pm

I've been reading with interest about the odd names of towns across America. I don't want to get in "Double Trouble" (NJ) so I will take a "Last Chance" (CO.) at getting this right. Heres a list that I found most amusing.

French Lick (IN)
Maggie's Nipples (WY)
Sugar Tit (SC)
Ding Dong (TX)
Jugville (MI.)
Love Ladies (NJ)
Gobblers Knob (PA)
Elephant Butte (NM)
Horneytown (NC)
Hooker (AK)

Thats quite an impressive list. Then there's Intercourse (PA) and Three Legs town (OH), must be all men there. But the over all most popular odd name is "Climax" seems as though there are at least 9 states with a town of that name.....Got a funny town name in your state? Lets hear it to see if it compares to these.......

Theme Song and the Winner Is.......... Jun 20, 2007 6:57 am

......Well the winning song for Hillary's campaign has been selected. Its Celion Dion's "You and I" here is the lyrics of the chorus......

You and I
Were meant to fly
Higher than the clouds
We’ll sail across the sky
So come with me
And you will feel
That we’re soaring
That we’re floating up so high
‘Cause you and I were meant to fly

Not being a fan of Celine Dion I had to look it up. Isnt this just nice a mushy mushy love song. I was hoping for a more earthy song like "Redneck Woman" or " I Got my Education Out Behind the Barn". But hey who am I, just an old politically incorrect former Marine living in the "RED" state of North Carolina. So all you "You and I" ers fly across the Sky with a canidate who answers questions with "maybe" "I may" "could be" just like slick willie did. She learned a lot from his style. Think she can pull it off?......

Im Tired of Hearing About It...... Jun 19, 2007 2:09 pm

.......Immigration seems to be a hot button issue and many seem to believe we ought to arrest them, throw them out. No amnesty, Secure the border, Build a fence, stop the illegals from entering the US.......As I see it there is nothing that can be done. A fence wont stop them, more border patrols wont stop them, for every measure enacted a counter measure occurs.......The only way to secure the border is to station our armed forces there with orders to shoot to kill. Do you think for one minute, you have the stomach for that? What would the consequences be of such a policy? Is this what is really wanted?....... We have jobs and until we don't have the jobs thats when they wont come. Its as simple as that.

She 's Looking for a Theme Song......What's your choice? Jun 16, 2007 4:58 pm

.....I recently read with interest that Hillary is looking for a theme song for her Presidential campaign. Well she has said that she's not a "Stand By Your Man" woman, and he may be "That Dirty Ol Egg Suckin Dog" but "Don't Mess With Bill."
.....Now that the "Race Is On" don't be a "Devil Woman" because you need to raise some "Money Honey". So when your "Down in the Boondocks" don't be "The Great Pretender". Just "Tell It Like It Is" because "Ain't That a Shame" if you don't.
.....To avoid being a "Fool #1" remember that "Taking Care of Business" works best because "When Your Hot Your Hot".
.....So "Funny Face" its "Now or Never" if you "Knock on Wood" you just might become "The Happiest Girl in the Whole USA". After all you don't want to "Take This Job and Shove It".

.....All kidding aside what song would you nominate for her campaign?.....Be serious about this or perhaps "The Bird of Paradise May Fly Up Your Nose"..........The song I have chosen that would reflect her campaign?...."There'll Be Some Changes Made".........What say you

Blogville Photo's.....Poll Results and another Sad Song Jun 15, 2007 4:35 am
551 Views
.....Thanks to all who voted and posted on this poll. It seems that most preferred the portrait style (head and shoulders). There was a wide range of comments. Some said the photo should reflect the subject matter of the blog. Some said a variety of photos and a lot said they should be current.... but far and above just as I predicted the clear winner was, "Its none of my damn business".......

Another sad song that's my #2. It's by Jack Greene whom I saw perform years ago at the Camp Lejeune Staff NCO Club. All those rowdy Marines sat quietly and had that dreamy eyed look as he sang........."Statue of a Fool"

Somewhere there should be for all the world to see a statue of a fool made of stone.
An image of a man who let love slip through his hands,
And then just let him stand there all alone.
And there on his face a gold tear should be placed
To honor the million tears he's cried, And the hurt in his eyes would show so everyone would know
Concealed is a broken heart inside.
So build a statue and oh build it high so that all can see.
Then inscribe the World's Greatest Fool and name it after me.

Happy Fathers Day to all Dads everywhere .............now I can go get sum Lobstahhhhhhh............
