A Song For CJC Oct 15, 2007 4:27 am
488 Views
......There have been some recent blogs where the blogger has copied some song lyrics along with their blog comments......Yesterday CJC and I journeyed to Calabash NC to meet up with her oldest Daughter for lunch.(she is a school teacher in Myrtle Beach). We then traveled to Wilmington NC to watch my Grandson's Hockey game and to see the new home my Daughter and her Husband are building. Its about 75% complete...... The boy scored twice and his team won the game 4-2 but in the 3rd period he recieved a 5 min misconduct for arguing a non call by the referee. The home is going to be beautiful but probably a bit big for their needs, over 3200 square feet....... As everything had turned out so well, as we were driving back home on the interstate I told CJC that I have a song I want to dedicate to her. She replied "Oh yeah? What is it, "May the Bird of Paridise Fly up Your Nose?" .......Of course not I said and in by best baritone (little off key) I belted out....." If I had a nickle I know what I would do. I'd spend it all on candy and give it all to you".

.......OK Chummies no Lobstahhhh but We'll see you in St. Pete...........

Decision Time Will Soon Be Upon Us........... Oct 13, 2007 9:22 am

.....It seems improbable but raising taxes reduces government revenue and lowering taxes actually increases revenues. Why is that? Well actually one has only to look at Wal-Mart for the answer. By actually putting forth the perception and appearance of being the lowest price, people will burn an extra dollar in gasoline to save 5 cents on a box of detergent. This concept has made them the most successful and largest retailer in the history of the world......Government spending is at an all time high. The Iraq/Afghanistan war, Burgeoning domestic agendas and all other costly government programs. The President had the solution lower/cut taxes. The result? Rising deficits are now being reversed, prompting the Presidents detractors to consider ( even though they wont admit it) that the Bush tax cuts are working. Revenues to the federal treasury have steadily risen since the Presidents tax cuts became law. People are just like Wal-Mart with lower taxes they produce more save more and spend more, spurring economic growth. Lower taxes gives power back to the individual, spurs and empowers each and every one of us.......In 2008 we as a people are going to decide on a candidate that will preside over the worlds greatest economy. Whom do you think it should be,a tax raiser or a tax cutter? Empower yourself or give more power to the Government? Don't spend your dollar vote on a candidate that will promise to save you 5 cents on a government program...........Your thoughts please, what say you?

Shopping with CJC............My sweetie Oct 12, 2007 12:05 pm

....This morning CJC and I went in town to do some shopping (looking). After walking around the Mall 2 times (didn't want to miss anything) we went to Kohl's. I picked out a Cardigan and she got a new coffee maker. On the way home we pulled in to MacDonald's drive thru to get a diet coke. I undid my seat belt to get out my wallet. Upon getting the drinks it was back on the highway and after a while I realized my seat belt was still unfastened. I told her why had she let me go this far with my seat belt undone. "Why is it my fault?" CJC quickly replied. "Well I cant blame George Bush or Big Oil and your 3rd on the list". ...........smile.......

Best Blog Contest 2007..........What do you think? Oct 11, 2007 8:28 am
574 Views
.....I have read with some curiosity the "Contest" Blogs. You know the Bad Boy Contest, Bad Girl Contest, Best body part and best tattoo. Although I thought they were silly I did see that many felt they injected much needed humor and fun in blogland. Indeed they did. ....So in keeping with that spirit I would like to propose a Blog of the Year contest. Out of the thousands of blogs submitted for 2007 we select just one that is to be crowned SFF Blog of the Year. Other categories can be added like most creative, best personal experience, etc....How about handing out a Gold medal for 1st Silver for 2nd and a Bronze for 3rd, and of course a few honorable mentions. ......I do not have the ability to conduct such a contest but I know there are some that do. Perhaps those who participate can nominate 2-3 blogs (but not their own). After a specified time these can be narrowed down and a final vote can determine the winner(s)........I am already scouring blogs to select my favorites to nominate, So someone please organize/conduct this because I think it will be fun enlightening and entertaining to revisit some outstanding blogs of the past year.
.......Your comment please and do you think this is a good/dumb idea.......

......Lobstahhhh time is over for me chummies.....Goodnight "Chesty" wherever you may be......

Bring the Troops Home to Secure our Borders..... Oct 8, 2007 8:26 am
469 Views
......It has been suggested on my blogs and others that we need to abandon (cut and run, quit, give up.) and bring our military troops home to protect our borders. Protect our borders from what? Last time I checked a boy scout troop can defeat a Canadian invasion. Mexico? a 3rd rate country with a corrupt Army and nonde-script Navy.....Before anyone gets any wild and crazy ideas are you ready to put a 18yr old highly motivated Marine or Soldier who will shoot to kill on the border with a loaded assault rifle? After all he is trained to fight wars and that involves killing the other guy. Can you imagine the outrage from the world let alone from within America at the prospect of thousands of unarmed illegals being gunned down as enemy combatants are? Well you say train them to be border guards...Get real you cant have it both ways. Our military's mission and structure is outlined in Title 10 of the US code. In a nutshell It says that the military is to protect our citizens and vital interests from sources outside our borders, not from within.....OK ignoring all that we bring them all home and station them on our borders. Who is going to guard or embassies? Man our installations around the world that protect Americas security and vital interests? Who will provide assistance to our friends and allies? Shall we abandon NATO and SEATO and withdraw from our territories and possessions around the world? I think not, The Department of Homeland security was created by our government so let them do their job because the Military has a big enough task already. Has everyone forgot what happened at Kent State when our military gets involved in domestic security?.......This is how I see it, I am an average thinking American citizen not swayed by media pundits and sound bites that defame, degrade and denounce our very way of life in this great country. What say you.......

Some of my favorite Bumper Stickers are political like "I'd rather be a conservative nut than a liberal with no nuts" .......However this category. Bumper Stickers for men are a close second......These are my favorites.....

"I havent spoken to my wife in years, I hate to interrupt her".

"Blondes aren't DUMM".

"I always hold my wife's hand, otherwise she shops".

"Don't be sexist. Broads dont like that".

"I married Miss Right. (her first name is always)".

"Its called PMS because Mad Cow Disease was already taken".

"Which came first Women or the Mall".

"Why cant women learn to put the toilet seat back up?".

"My wife doesnt enjoy guilt trips, She runs the travel agency".

and finally....."Love is blind, you get married, and then your eyesight is restored".

OK Guys lets hear some of your favorites.. .......

An Overextended Militay.........fact or fiction Oct 6, 2007 7:47 am
336 Views
......I often hear from the media and our leaders in Congress about how over-extended our military is and how in some cases units have been to Iraq for 3-4 times. So I decided to look at some facts and figures of my own. I have no doubt that there are some units and servicemen and women that have been to Iraq multiple times as i was in VietNam for 2 tours of 13 months each. I could have served more if I had wanted to. So I do not dispute that. I do strongly deny that our military is over extended.......Current personnel strength from all branches is 2,369,239 give or take.....and our Iraq/Afghanistan troop strength is around 140,000 give or take. Those numbers reflect that less than 6% of our total forces are committed to those 2 theaters of operations......During the height of the Vietnam conflict we committed over half a million troops in country. So why is America moaning about Iraq? Simple its the media constantly harping about how terrible our military is. They grasp to any inconsistency that reflects discredit and never report any achievements. The Abu-Graib prison scandal is a prime example. Iraqi prisoners being treated to no worse than a college hazing incident were reported by our media as torture. Perhaps they should ask our own POWs just exactly what torture is? .....Wake up America we are winning this war. We are defeating our enemies and our military will prevail. Where do YOU stand on this issue, behind the NY Times, CNN, MSNBC, CBS etc. and the Washington Post, or behind our brave men and women serving in harms way doing an outstanding job. They are keeping you and I safe and secure. Support them not the Media's sensationalism.

Home Sweet Home........... Oct 3, 2007 5:45 am

.....Well CJC and I arrived back in North Carolina from Maine yesterday evening. We survived Hell Week no worse for the wear. The church ladies from my brothers church presented us with a basket of jams, jellies and a bunch of Maine Whoopie pies. We also brought back gifts and souvenirs for all the family members and a Gallon of Real Maine Maple Syrup. The color is a rich light Amber and tastes like a little bit of heaven on blueberry pancakes. Doesn't get any better cause thats the way life should be.
........The trip back took two full days with quick side trips to Stockbridge Mass, HYde Park NY, Strousburg Pa and Winchester Va. with all that we did and all that we saw there is never enough time to do everything. Guess that means we are going back next year. Thanks for everyone's comments and well wishes during our trip and we are glad to be back home except CJC will miss those hot apple dumplings with a gob of home made ice cream on top and me? the Lobstahhhhhh what else?

The Barnyard Restaurant.................. Sep 25, 2007 1:20 pm
439 Views
....CJC and I are in the last part of our vacation. I call it Hell Week. We work at my brothers church's restaurant at the 2nd largest Fair in the State of Maine. Its a full service restaurant serving 3 meals a day. I am the breakfast cook and CJC works the dining room. We arise at 3 am and at work at 4 am. The restaurant being open for one week out of the year lacks a lot of things normally associated with year round establishments. (facilities & equipment). The church ladies are great when it comes to doing suppers and dinners but are scared to death with short order grill work that is required for breakfast. Each order has to be done separately and one at a time as no one seems to order the same thing. It really gets hectic. We serve Eggs, Omelets, Pancakes, French Toast, muffins toast biscuits hash browns, bacon ham and sausages and all that goes with it. I die when I get home at noontime and takes me an hour to recuperate. We are in bed asleep shortly after supper 3am comes quick. Tomorrow is day 4 only 3 more days after that. I think I will make it. ...........all have a good day cause I'm in hell week but I did get my fill of Lobstahhhh.....5 dollars a pound y'all ......ain't that nice.....smile

New England Vacation........Update Sep 19, 2007 4:45 pm

......Well after a hectic weekend with Family and Friends here in Maine and getting my fill of Lobstahhhh rolls, Fried Clams and Italians from Amatoes CJC and I headed to Massachusetts on Tuesday. We met Sillime in Newburyport for Bagels and coffee at Dunkin Donuts. Then we headed for Boston. Traffic was terrible. We saw Bunker Hill and Old Ironsides. Stopped at Cheers and saw "NORM" I asked him how the worlds treating him, he replied "like a baby treats a diaper"....... Then we went further south to Plymouth. We saw the Mayflower and Plymouth Rock. CJC took lots of pictures. We the arrived at Mattapouiset to visit friends from NC as they have a cottage overlooking Buzzards Bay across from Cape Cod. The next day we traveled to Lexington/Concord to see the Minutemen battle sites and the old north bridge, where the "Shot heard round the world" was first fired. It was the beginning of Americas War of Independence. Was quite a humbling experience to stand on the same ground where our fore fathers did. After spending the better part of the day in Concord we left to go back to Maine arriving in time for a delicious supper at Cole Farms. Don't worry CJC took lots of pictures and when we get back home we will post an album on picture trail.

Our best to all and "don't fire till you see the whites of their eyes".........Look out Lobstahhhhhs Ive got another 10 days up heaaaah.
