.......This Sunday night trivia thing to me seems a little bit unfair. In the first place women outnumber the men in significant numbers so it is very unlikely the men will prevail. In the second place those providing the questions can conceivably ask questions that favor one group over another. I'm not saying that happens but it has the propensity to do so. Now I know its supposed to be a friendly thing and all want to enjoy, but this constant women against men competition is not conducive to that type of contest. The trivia games I have been participating in names winners instead of pitting one sex over another. At the end of the game 1st 2nd and 3rd place winners were announced. I mostly was able to at least take 3rd but each week I was motivated to take 1st place. I wanted the gold medal.......I know everyone will yell its fine the way it is but one never knows unless its tried. This men against women thing is kinda ridiculous. I really don't get excited about the men won or the women won or whose on top or who's on bottom. I cannot really comment on the other aspects of Sunday because I haven't been in for the whole game in a very long time.......
......Last week when reading the many Blogs regarding 9/11 I was taken that no one mentioned or had given President Bush any Credit for keeping us safe for the past 7 years. In fact some comments about the President were rather brutal. I c&p this article for its full impact on just exactly what I had wanted to say. I was going to edit it for the sake of brevity but by doing it this way the "source" lady will not be jumping my wagon....I hope you enjoy it.....
............Morose that there hasn't been another terrorist attack on American soil for seven long years, liberals were ecstatic when Hurricane Gustav was headed toward New Orleans during the Republican National Convention. The networks gave the hurricane plenty of breaking-news coverage -- but unfortunately it was Hurricane Katrina from 2005 they were covering........On Keith Olbermann's Aug. 29 show on MSNBC, Michael Moore said the possibility of a Category 3 hurricane hitting the United States "is proof that there is a God in heaven." Olbermann responded: "A supremely good point." Actually, Olbermann said that a few minutes later to some other idiotic point Moore had made, but that's how Moore would have edited the interview for one of his "documentaries," so I will, too. I would only add that Michael Moore's morbid obesity is proof that there is a Buddha. Hurricane Gustav came and went without a hitch. What a difference a Republican governor makes!..............As many have pointed out, the reason elected officials tend to neglect infrastructure project issues, like reinforcing levees in New Orleans and bridges in Minneapolis, is that there's no glory when a bridge doesn't collapse. There are no round-the-clock news specials when the levees hold. You can't even name an overpass retrofitting project after yourself -- it just looks too silly. But everyone's taxes go up to pay for the reinforcements........................Preventing another terrorist attack is like that. There is no media coverage when another 9/11 doesn't happen. We can thank God that President George Bush didn't care about doing the safe thing for himself; he cared about keeping Americans safe. And he has, for seven years................If Bush's only concern were about his approval ratings, like a certain impeached president I could name, he would not have fought for the Patriot Act and the war in Iraq. He would not have resisted the howling ninnies demanding that we withdraw from Iraq, year after year. By liberals' own standard, Bush's war on terrorism has been a smashing, unimaginable success............A year after the 9/11 attack, The New York Times' Frank Rich was carping about Bush's national security plans, saying we could judge Bush's war on terror by whether there was a major al-Qaida attack in 2003, which -- according to Rich -- would have been on al-Qaida's normal schedule. Rich wrote: "Since major al-Qaida attacks are planned well in advance and have historically been separated by intervals of 12 to 24 months, we will find out how much we've been distracted soon enough." There wasn't a major al-Qaida attack in 2003. Nor in 2004, 2005, 2006 or 2007. Manifestly, liberals thought there would be: They announced a standard of success that they expected Bush to fail...............As Bush has said, we have to be right 100 percent of the time, the terrorists only have to be right one time. Bush has been right 100 percent of the time for seven years -- so much so that Americans have completely forgotten about the threat of Islamic terrorism. For his thanks, President Bush has been the target of almost unimaginable calumnies -- the sort of invective liberals usually reserve for seniors who don't separate their recyclables properly. Compared to liberals' anger at Bush, there has always been something vaguely impersonal about their "anger" toward the terrorists. By my count, roughly one in four books in print in the world at this very moment have the words "Bush" and "Lie" in their title. Barnes & Noble has been forced to add an "I Hate Bush" section. I don't believe there are as many anti-Hitler books. Despite the fact that Hitler brought "change," promoted clean, energy-efficient mass transit by making the trains run on time, supported abortion for the non-master races, vastly expanded the power of the national government and was uniformly adored by college students and their professors, I gather that liberals don't like Hitler because they're constantly comparing him to Bush...................The ferocity of the left's attacks on Bush even scared many of his conservative allies into turning on him over the war in Iraq. George Bush is the Gary Cooper in the classic western "High Noon." The sheriff is about to leave office when a marauding gang is coming to town. He could leave, but he waits to face the killers as all his friends and all the townspeople, who supported him during his years of keeping them safe, slowly abandon him. In the end, he walks alone to meet the killers, because someone has to. That's President Bush. Name one other person in Washington who would be willing to stand alone if he had to, because someone had to........OK, there is one, but she's not in Washington yet. Appropriately, at the end of "High Noon," Cooper is surrounded by the last two highwaymen when, suddenly, his wife (Grace Kelly) appears out of nowhere and blows away one of the killers! The aging sheriff is saved by a beautiful, gun-toting woman............
....You gotta love the Gary Cooper analogy I sure did......

.... In a recent blog posted about why someone would not vote for a candidate who supports overturning Roe vs Wade as they felt it was a bad law, I expressed my opinion as to why I thought it was a bad law. I was polite and even asked the blogger not to take any offense and I was sorry if they did. The next thing I know not only was my comments deleted but the entire blog was pulled. Well alas comes the pissed off, no response, read only blog. I was sternly chastised and told never to comment on any more blogs that she authors. OK I can live with that even though she states that she welcomes discussions and debates. Now comes the rationale, #1 Because I an a Man and have never been pregnant or carried a baby I have no right to my pro-life opinions on abortion. May I remind her and others that arguments do not have gender, people do. Her response to me has no validity because many women are pro-life too. So honestly is gender actually relevant? I think not. Because if she believed that than she should reject Roe v Wade because it was decided by 9 men (7-2)........premise #2 I have never adopted a child from an unwanted pregnancy. Do not spend any money to support aids babies or babies who are products of rape. OK suppose my neighbor comes to me and says "if you don't adopt my 3 children by noon tomorrow I will kill them". Clearly if I did not adopt them it would not justify those parents from killing them. This type of ad hominem argument is clearly flawed. I in no way say that myself and other pro-lifers are exempt from any responsibility and certain amounts of my charitable giving is directed to organizations that do help children of unwanted pregnancies and unwed mothers. This unfair argument is constantly directed at me so it really comes as no surprise........In conclusion I am saddened that probably I should have made no comment at all but I also have no regrets that I did. I will never apologize for asserting the rights of and giving a voice to those who have none, the lest among us and so precious in his sight.......the unborn.
....This Pig story really happened. In Cummings Iowa an accident occurred Blocking Traffic for miles. State patrol officials said the incident started when a truck carrying pigs suddenly swerved in a construction zone and overturned...... Truck drivers stuck in line behind the crash watched as pigs started walking down the interstate toward their trucks.......Truckers, troopers and fire fighters worked for hours to get them contained and to bring in a second truck to load the pigs back onto a tractor-trailer........The load included more than 156 pigs; some died during the crash. After the pigs are removed from the scene, hazmat crews will arrive to finish the cleanup process. The accident remains under investigation........This just might be the Obama campaign's worst nightmare as Thousands of Sarah Palin Hockey Moms descend on Iowa with there Lipstick Tubes at the ready. But wait I have a much better Idea. Lets get those Islamic terrorist goons from GITMO to clean it all up. The ultimate torture and look at all the water that will be saved.....smile
story from KCCI-TV and KCCI web site.-except for the last paragraph.....
.......It has been thrust down our throats by the liberal left and others that the establishment clause in the Constitution clearly states that there is a "Separation of Church and State". Some Founding fathers did in fact favor a "wall" between Government and religion. In that there is no "separation" language in the Constitution Courts now for the most part use what is called the(1) 3 pronged Lemon test and as long as a lawsuit can pass just one of the prongs rulings in favor of religion usually occurs.....(2).Such was the recent case brought by a high school teacher against his school district which ordering him to take down 5 patriotic posters he had displayed in his classroom. The posters displayed these messages.... "One Nation Under God"....." In God we Trust"....."God Bless America"....."All men are created equal and are endowed by their creator".....and "God shed his grace on thee" ........The School District in my opinion failed to meet at least 2 of the prongs and possibly all 3. They lost their appeal to have the teachers lawsuit dismissed. The 3rd prong of the lemon test is all important to those who think that just a hint of religion is not acceptable in the public arena. It says ... A statue must not foster "An excessive Government entanglement with religion". Well done to that Judge who interprets Law not make the Law......Thats the kind of Judges I want....Don't you?

......I sat here today contemplating and reading all the blogs about that fateful day 7 years ago. Most can relate and as in other important dates most can recall where they were when it took place. 9/11 was a moment that wont be erased from memory any time soon. 2557 days have gone by and we have not been attacked on our soil since. I have to give credit to President Bush for this. 7 years ago I recall him standing in the rubble of he WTC next to a fireman who told him, Mr President do not ever let this happen again. Thank you Mr President because it hasn't.......Your critics have been very harsh and your detractors mean spirited but you have never wavered from that simple request asked for by that fireman. Odd that no blog has mentioned this today. Is contempt for a President, that keeps the safety and security of the American people first and foremost, that deep that he gets no mention of his accomplishment. So much for the failed policies of the Bush Administration because this policy has been a success.....God Bless you Mr President, and on this day especially you deserve a hearty "well done".
........U S Marines have a reputation for being an elite Military fighting force. In peacetime the Marines pretty much take care of themselves but in Combat all that goes out the window as every Marine no matter what his job is becomes a rifleman. Marines now need the support of our sister services in the worst way..........This month 66 years ago a Marine Battalion was taking heavy casualties on a Guadacanal beachead. 1stClass Douglas Munro was the OIC of the Miller boats (Landing craft) that were tasked to getting the Marines off the beach. As the remaining Marines were loading on the craft they suddenly came under heavy and withering fire from the Japanese. Munro maneuvered his craft between the Marines and the Japanese and acting as a shield he engaged the enemy with his two 30 caliber machine guns. He and both crewman were wounded in this action but they did not withdraw and continued to expose themselves until all of the Marines were safely aboard and on the way back to the rescue ship......1stClass Munro's wounds were fatal......Born in Canada his family migrated to Washington State 1n 1922. He enlisted in the Coast Guard and volunteered for duty to serve in the Pacific. For his action in rescuing those Marines he was awarded posthumously the Congressional Medal of Honor and the surviving crew member received the Navy Cross. To date Signalman 1st Class Munro is the only member of the United States Coast Guard ever to be awarded the Medal of Honor. Marines are ever grateful for the dedicated support of all the Armed Services and have the highest respect for all they do. We may poke fun and joke with each of the different branches but don't let anyone else try it, for we are all brothers/sisters in the Military.......Not many know of Douglas Munro's achievements but you can bet this September 27th in the small community of Cle Elum Washington near Seattle its citizens will know him and remember him.......America is in your debt as we are to all Servicemen and women. Thank you sir......
.......I remember Connie Francis well. After all I was a child of the 50's and she sure could sing. One of my favorite songs was........ "When you left me all alone at the record hop Told me you were goin' out for a soda pop You were gone for quite a while, half an hour or more You came back and man oh man this is what I saw
Lipstick on you collar told a tale you Lipstick on you collar said you were untrue Bet your bottom dollar you and I are through Cuz lipstick on you collar told a tale you".
Now we are embroiled in the great Lipstick political controversy..I listened to Senator Obama express his outrage at the attention his earlier comment about lipstick on a pig somehow got interpreted as him referring to Governor Palin. The liberals are beside themselves as the McCain campaign quickly has an Ad out making exactly that connection. Com-on Senator didn't you exploit and have Ads out when Senator McCain said it would be OK if we had troops in Iraq for 100 years even when knew it was out of context? How about the McCain sound bite of "bomb bomb bomb, bomb Iran" Its called payback Senator. Change the title of your book to "Audacity of Hypocrites",because thats exactly what you are doing. I really thought I was going to dread this campaign but now its becoming amusing.....Just like Mayor Gulianni said "How dare they,...how dare they say how can she be VP and take care of 5 children. When did the Democrats ever ask that of a Man!"
.....I hear this often. "This election is critical" Of course I heard it in the election before this one and the one before that and so on and on. For the candidates it sure is critical, especially for the one who loses. This election is unique in that not since 1952 have we had two candidates that have not held office from a previous administration. Actually though is it really critical for us the people. In our age group we have seen many elections and guess what, we all survived. Whether we approve or disapprove, like or dislike, agree or disagree not much changes. America just seems to roll merrily along albeit some bumps and curves in the road much like it always does. Why? not because of some election outcome but because of this remarkable Republic rooted in a capitalistic free market is why....... No matter who wins this election we will get a man who is committed to America and its people. Each and every President that has served us brings that value to the office. Just like Maslow's hierarchy of needs each President makes his/hers first priority the physiological and safety needs of its citizens first otherwise self-actualization can never be achieved............So then if nothing really changes and America survives no matter who's in office then why do we vote? I cannot answer for anyone but myself. I cast my ballot for those who most resemble the values that I have. Isn't that what we all do?..........Hope you all like my new Lobstahhhhh picture taken this past labor day at my families annual clam/lobster bake in Maine. Its the way life should be.....
