Black History.......a misconception

.....February being Black History Month is a time to reflect on the rich traditions and how far Black Americans have come over the years. In fact its a pretty good Idea to have other months dedicated to other ethnic groups. The other day I was reading about the Clarence Thomas Supreme Court nomination hearings when Judiciary Chairman Joe Biden commented that the Constitution is a living document and what occurred long ago does not necessarily apply in todays world, For an example he cited that many, not all, Founding Fathers were products of wealth and privilege and owned vast tracts of land and had many slaves. That notion that our founding fathers because they had and owned slaves and so supported slavery is inherently false. Many say evidence of racism in the original Constitution can be found in Article 1 which says slaves are to be counted as 3/5th of a person regarding the apportionment of the House of Representatives. In actuality it had the opposite effect in that Slave states had less representation in Congress and a diminished influence on legislation. Also slavery was an institution in America long before our founding fathers were even born. It was insisted upon in America by the English Crown for it provided England with much needed goods from America at a reasonable cost. Almost all states had slavery and any attempt to put an end to slavery was thwarted by England. Not until the revolutionary war were the Northern states able to abolish slavery. In fact a slave owner himself George Washington was instrumental to forbid its expansion in the new territories in the west, and upon his death he freed the slaves he owned........So my friends our Constitution is not a living document, per se., it has stood us well for over 200 years. It is very difficult to amend and should remain so. It is a document that we all should stay abreast of and any attempt to arbitrary alter what it says should be vigorously opposed...........

Liberal Intellect.........Help me understand it......

.....The Liberal intellect always has been a source of amazement to me and try as I do to understand it I cannot. I have read many comments that say President Bush is responsible for the 4000 plus American lives prosecuting the war on terror. One of the justifications for that is that Iraq never posed a threat to us. North Korea never posed a threat either. All they wanted was a unified Korea. 54,229 Americans were killed, is that President Truman's fault? North VietNam want to unify their country and posed no threat to the United States. 58,193 and 1,957 Americans are either missing or dead during that conflict. Is that President's Kennedy, Johnson and Nixon's fault? How about President Clinton debacle in Somalia who certainly was no threat and resulted in 30 American lives lost. Is he to blame for them? Then of course is the first Gulf War, which resulted in 293 American lives. Lets hold President Bush (41) accountable for Iraq and Kuwait in the first Gulf War as they were no threat to us either. But alas the " I hate Bush crowd sees none of this. They also see none of the many success's of the Bush presidency, His aid to Africa to combat disease and HIV/Aids. His reducing the Abortion rate by 300,000 a year, Thats 2.4 million lives he has saved in eight years. His tax reduction policies that has benefited all Americans, and we did not have another terrorist attack after 9/11 on our soil while he was President. Failure for Liberals to acknowledge these and other success's and to focus on a shoe throwing incident or any other idiotic occurrence is immature and blatantly Biased. If our current Commander in Chief is half the man President Bush was and be a man of principle and ethics I will consider him a success as well....

.......Yesterday marked the 63rd anniversary of the month long battle for Iwo Jima. Immortalized by Joe Rosenthals picture of the flag raising on top of Mt Suribachi and by the words of Admiral Chester Nimitz who said "Uncommon Valor was a common virtue," Iwo Jima was the scene of the fiercest fighting of WW2. The casualty figures reveal just how deadly the battle was. Almost 28 thousand American Marines and Sailors were dead or wounded. Of the 22 thousand Japanese defending the Island only 216 were captured during the fighting. 27 Medals of Honor (23 Marines and 4 Sailors) were awarded and this was 30% 0f all MOH's awarded Marines for the entire war. Because of the bushido warrior code many Japanese remained hidden in caves and would not surrender. A full six years later the last 2 Japanese soldiers emerged and brought to close a chapter in one of the epic battles in our Nations history. Perhaps sometime between now and March 26th when you see an American flag you will remember the bravery and determination of our Marines and Sailors whose red blood mingled with that black volcano sand 63 years ago. May we never forget what it takes to secure the blessings of liberty in this great Country of ours. God Bless America.....................

European Union in Shock..........

.....Not long ago I had written a blog warning my European friends about the impending leadership change in the European Union by Czech Republic President Vaclav Klaus. After reading about him and his conservative views I just knew he would throw the proverbial monkey wrench into the Liberal elitist pot. In his first speech before the EU in Brussels he said "The European Union has turned into an undemocratic and elitist project comparable to the Communist dictatorships of eastern Europe that forbade alternative thinking." His scathing attack on the EU project and its institutions, provoked boos from many lawmakers, some of whom walked out, but applause from nationalists and other anti-EU legislators......Well Done President Klaus you have identified the failed socalism of the European Union and have sent the elitist scurrying for cover. Keep up the good work.

......Eric Holder, President Obama's choice for Attorney General and the first Black American to hold that post, gave a speech recently to employees of the Justice Dept. It was a speech to commerate Black History month. He said that although racism has been pretty much been eliminated in the workplace, Americans are very integrated on the weekends and in their private lives.........I sincerely hope our Chief Law Enforcement Officer is not considering policies that would force us to host a backyard barbecue with those we care not to associate with.....He also said that Americans do not talk about racism and that we are a nation of "Cowards"........OK suppose I do a blog about the "anti-learning" culture in urban area High Schools. Across this country there are young black men and women who won't study, won't answer questions in class, won't do homework, and won't try to do well on tests because their friends will think they're trying to "act white." Next I tell you that blacks commit violent crimes way out of proportion to their percentage of the population. Then I say that 70% of black children are born out of wedlock. Your immediate reaction to all this is that every liberal here in SFF and everywhere else for that matter will label me as a "Racist". Just this morning in the Chatroom I was called a racist by some jerk who doesn't even know me........OK Mr Holder I agree the racist in America are "Cowards" of which the majority of racist's are black.....Blacks view themselves even today as victims of a white society. Someone needs to tell them that the Civil Rights war/era is over and that the good guys won. Opportunity for black Americans is alive and well if only they will take advantage of it......Many do but not nearly enough.

The Obamatuer Hour.........

.......I just read with amazement that President Obama's approval rating is 60%. Makes me wonder if the general public pays attention to what's really going on within the Government instead of getting their news from Entertainment Tonight. Granted he has been our President for only a month now so lets review just what has occurred and is it "change" we can believe in? The Dow at a 10-year low. A tax cheat Tim "indispensable" Geithner running the IRS and another tax cheat is the Chief of Staff. Government mandated limits on executive compensation. Three failed attempts and still no Commerce Secretary. His pick for Health and Human Services Secretary Tom "home James" Daschle rides his free limo into the sunset - after paying taxes he evaded. The White House performance czar turns out to have tax problems. Lobbyists hired to work for the Obama Administration which he said he would not do. The census gets politicized. Moving unionization-by-intimidation forward Welfare checks become "tax cuts." Illegal aliens free to work on taxpayer-funded "stimulus" projects. Welfare reform reversed, states ordered to increase welfare roles. The selling of Senate seats. More government workers, not private sector jobs. A government bureaucracy to intrude on doctor/patient relationships and the stage is set for medical services rationing. Last but not least he will be sending annual welfare checks for middle income families. .............30 days! Whats the next 4 years gonna be? I know, I know all my liberal friends will say he has to clean up the past 8 years of the Bush administration. Sounds like the only thing he is cleaning up is all the campaign promises that he cannot and will not keep. Well his big accomplishment which he refers to as a "Stimulus Package" and one that he has had since November 4th to craft with oodles of bipartisanship, goodwill and fawning press coverage to waft him along. Instead he chose to outsource it to Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Barney Frank, and the rest of the congressional pork barons. It is a sad state but just like his Cabinet picks our Community Organizer in-Chief his lacking in executive competence. Lets hope the Obamatuer Hour is drawing to a close and his remaining 47 months in Office things will turn around for him. Just Maybe at his next Town Hall meeting he will tell the lady from Ft Myers Florida who said she needs a home, a kitchen of her own and her own bathroom, "Ask not what your Government can do for you, Ask what you can do for your Government.".........(JFK)

......we attended the wedding of our friend yesterday in Mulberry. It as a gala affair. The bride and groom were very gracious as there were over 250 guests. I was impressed with the church as they had a jar which said pennies for Zimbabwe. Being intimately aware of the plight that the thug Mugabe has rained down on its wonderful citizens I put all my change in the jar and stuffed some dollar bills in it as well. The people of Zimbabwe need our support and prayers..... This morning we left Lakeland and traveled to Ybor city for lunch with High School friends at the world famous Colombia restaurant. It has been in Ybor city, Tampa since 1905. The atmosphere, service and food is absolutely stunning. After lunch is was a short drive down the coast to Ft. Myers. Tomorrow we plan to go through the Everglades and take a pontoon boat tour to see all the wildlife. Then its on to Miami.......So long my friends all our best to everyone....

A "Right" to Criticize...................

........Lately it seems that whenever I am critical of President Obama the comments I get range from give him a chance to clean up the Bush mess, what do you expect from him miracles? he needs more time, he will be a great president, etc etc. America elected him with 52% of the vote, hardly a mandate so of course I am critical. Here is a man with minimal experience in governing. Attended a church for 20 years listening to the un-american rantings of his pastor. Has close associations with questionable characters like William Ayers and Tony Rezko. His encounter with Joe the Plumber which he said he wants to spread the wealth around. Voted to kill babies born alive from botched abortions and voted against partial birth abortions. He voted with his party leadership 100% of the time and has the most liberal voting record of the Senate. How can anyone say I have no right to be critical of him. With such a sketchy background and the corrupt political machine that he came from I believe not only should his policies be questioned but closely monitored by all Americans. To be worthy of our trust he needs to prove himself to us. So far he has not. It didn't take him 2 days to begin breaking campaign promises. He is off to a bad start and it is proof that he is learning to be President by on the job training. I have every right to be critical of him for it was he that sought the office and yet he is not ready for it.
