White America.........Guilty as Charged?

.......As America struggles about health care the President decides to open the old wound of race relations in the police/Gates affair in Cambridge Mass. His stupid remark about police "stupidity" festered the wound of racial harmony. Instead of stopping there he had to inflict the race guilt card and mention racial profiling. As blacks and latinos disproportionally commit crimes why shouldn't they be profiled disproportionally........Just like the evangelical tent revival preacher who puts his flock on an extreme guilt trip not so much to provide everyone salvation but also to provide salvation for his pocketbook. For the more guilt he can inflict the more prosperous he becomes.......Such is the case of those who foster "White" guilt. The Rev's,(Al, Jesse and Jeremiah) know all to well that the more "racial" guilt that they inflict on White America the more donations the receive. The blame for all this lies directly at our Public schools. By beating our children over the head about slavery, Jim Crow, and the civil rights era our children have been fully indoctrinated into the "White" guilt community......Mr. President you would best be advised to issue a pardon to all those "white" guilt victims and let everyone know that from now on you will be judged by the content of your character instead of your skin color or ethnicity. Perhaps it should sound like this; ........I President Barack Obama do make this Proclamation that Amnesty be granted to the "White" race for past discretion's such as Slavery, Jim Crow and other civil rights violations in our past. By eliminating the "White" guilt we can as a nation truly achieve racial harmony in that all persons are judged by the content of their character. Therefore, from this day forward Americans of European ancestry can stand straight and proud knowing they are without guilt and thus obliged not to act like damn fools in their relationships with Americans of African and Latino ancestry........
....Now Mr. President lets have a honest debate on Health Care instead of cramming yours down our throat......Amen brother you guilty yet?

OK one more Flour identity for all of the botanist out there in SFF Land. This flower grows wild in only a few places. Although there are many species this one is the top of the line so to speak. It is the national flower of the country it grows in, a famous international sports team takes its name. It blooms in summer and grows to a foot across, spectacular to see. Its no wonder that its name comes from a Greek God. What is it?

Last year to Celebrate our 2nd anniversary CJC and I went to Hawaii for 10 days. After a 4 day stay on Maui we hopped over to Honolulu. After settling in we wanted to visit the Arizona Memorial. The next day we went across the street from our Hotel to catch the bus to Pearl Harbor. There at the Bus stop on Kalakaua Avenue, Waikiki was a beautiful flower one doesn't see very often, certainly not in North Carolina. The picture CJC took doesnt do its beauty justice. What do you think it is?

......Last night at President Obama's's press conference he was asked about the esteemed Harvard Professor Henry "Skip" Gates arrest in Cambridge Mass., and what were his thoughts on the matter. The Presidents comments were what divides us along racial lines instead of bringing us together. President Obama's response was,...."the Cambridge police acted 'stupidly' in arresting somebody when there was already proof that they were in their own home."....also he said "what I think we know separate and apart from this incident - is that there is a long history in this country of African-Americans and Latinos being stopped by law enforcement disproportionately, and that's just a fact." ....Thank you Mr. President you will be nominated for the Al Sharpton award of Racial pimping with those remarks. You did admit that you had not recieved all the facts but still felt it necessary to play the race card. I am disappointed Mr President and you probably disappointed a large segment of Americans by your clearly inappropiate remarks. You should at the very least apologize the the Cambridge Police Department. In your last comment you should have said, that African-Americans and Latino's commit a disproportionately amounts of violent crimes which contributes to high incidents of those groups being stopped by the authorities, and thats a fact. You certainly campaigned on bringing this Country together but you have proven once again you are a divider...........

Am I Crazy?...........

......... There are many distinct rock outcroppings and formations that are interesting across this Country. There's the Nine Sisters in San Luis Obispo. The Iao needle in Hawaii. the Devils Backbone along the Ohio river in Indiana. The old man in the Mountain which sadly collapsed in 2003 in New Hampshire. .... ....There is one here in North Carolina just east of Bat Cave on Highway 74. I have traveled this way many times on my way to Asheville NC before the interstate made the trip easier. Its called Chimmney Rock. Herein lies the problem. It does not resemble a chimmney. IMHO it appears to be something else. I have often wondered why it wasn't named for what it looks like. Does anyone out there think that I am crazy? Do you disagree? Does it really look like a chimmney or something else? If so what is your opinion ? What would you call it?

40 Years Ago..........Is it true?

.....40 years ago today Neil Armstrong was the first man to set foot and walk on the surface of the moon. Who could forget those famous words "one small step for man one giant step for mankind." A little known utterance that followed was not widely reported but Mr Armstrong then said "congatulations Mr. Johnson'. Upon returning back to earth Mr. Armstrong while on the TV talk show circuit was asked who is Mr Johnson and why he congratulated him?...Welll said Mr Armstrong when he was a young lad he lived next door to a Mr and Mrs Johnson. They frequently argued and on one occasion I was in the backyard when I heard Mrs Johnson say to her husband, " Oral sex! thats what you want? Tell you what, You'll get your oral sex when the kid next door walks on the moon!"..........

How About You?........

.......I have listened to the health care debate over and over and over again as it seems to dominate, for the most part, the news. The proponents tell us its needed now. The opponents say its not needed now. Estimate say there are 45 million uninsured, well just who are they? Take away those who could afford to have it but don't want it, take away those who are eligible for a Government program but don't apply, take away illegals in this country and a good faith estimate is about 5% of our population or 15 million. So lets identify them and provide them with affordable health insurance on a shared risk basis. You know create a pool where each health insurer must take on their share at reduced cost.......Americas Tax free day this year was April 13th or a 28.3% tax burden. Lets look at other countries that have Government run health care and the tax burdens on their citizens. Canada's tax free date was June 6th or 42.6% tax burden. Of course that mild compared to France. France's tax free date is July 16th with a tax burden of 53.6%. Sweden and Norway are so high I don't even want to mention them. Great Britain you say? try a tax free day of 2 June with a tax burden of 42% Slightly better than Canada......This is not hard to figure out. In order to provide free health care for 5% of our population it will cost you the taxpayer anywhere from 12 to 18% more in taxes as it does in Countries with national health care plans. Doesn't seem right does it. A person making $40,000 a year who provides for his own health insurance will have to pay an average of $5-7.000 more in taxes each year for those who don't. That is not chump change. I know their are many who say a little more in taxes so everyone gets health care is not important. $5-7,000 extra dollars per year confiscated by the Government is plenty important to me......How about you?

Prisoner 46664..............Madiba

....Just suppose you were born and lived in a Country where you were forbidden to vote. You were not allowed to own property. In fact you were forced from your home and relocated to an area designated by the Government. You were not allowed away from your home after 9 pm. You could not freely travel from one area to another without a pass from the authorities who looked for any excuse to deny that pass. You were told what schools you could attend and which ones you could not. You were denied access to public parks, beaches and other recreational sites and activities. Any opposition to those rules were met with harsh punishment ranging from further restrictions to imprisonment for long periods of time. Sounds pretty severe doesn't it? Would you be bitter? would you want to exact some sort of retribution on those imposing their will on you?.....Such was the plight of prisoner 46664. Set free after 27 years much of which was at hard labor. Only receiving one censored letter and one visitor every six months he never lost sight of his dream of living in a Country that was free to all people. After much negotiation, after he was freed in 1990, his Country held its first multi-racial elections in 1993 and on 10 May 1994 prisoner 46664 was inaugurated as his Countries first black President........Such was the man Nelson (Madiba) Mandela. Yesterday was his 91st birthday. Sir you are a shining example of what freedom is all about. You are and continue to be to all who struggle for basic human rights that it can be achieved by not chastising the oppressor but to forgive him. May you live to enjoy for many many more years living free in the Country of your birth.
...I urge all who have not read his autobiography "Long Walk to Freedom" to do so. I guarantee that you will be transfixed by the compelling narrative of this mans remarkable life......

.......Having no pets I wondered what to post this week. On occasions during the hot summer nights we have visitors. Usually between 2-6 of them. I wonder about them as we live in a populated area. There is a branch that winds its way through our community so I guess they follow it in their travels looking for forage. This shot was taken through our sunroom window any closer and they would be spooked......OOPS there they go...I guess they heard the sound of the shutter.
