I am quite sure everybody is pround of it. English is my second language. Did well at my job. But you know that my kids are perfect in english, it does not matter what university you attended, you still can be stupid. So all this namecalling makes no sense. In the end it is what the person is saying, if you are hung up on the grammar, then you are not intelligent, your a retentive. I have the nicest words from people I could not understand, but the looks and gestures I could understand. Get going folks we have a world to save for our kids and grandkids. Put all theS-- aside and work together. By the way just for fun my daughter got her preachers license on the web. Does that tell you anything? |

Maynilabelle, what's so hard to understand about this blog. Talk about degrading...telling someone to spit it out...gooblydook...is that a word. Preacher's license via the web? I didn't know preachers were licensed...I thought they were ordained. Be that as it may, what it 'tells me' is your daughter has a strange sense of humor if she did that 'just for fun'.

lovethecoast My guess is that she won't be around long. For heaven sake why put down someone who admits that English is their second language...plus all this name calling. Maynilabelle...shame on you for your reply here, and you also being from another country should know better. ami...bring it on little girl with the big mouth...my hunch is you got a big mouth and won't last long here. Getting along 101...what did you skip this class or does someone piss in your wheaties every morning? Minnieated...sorry for the anger from the big mouth. Maybe this ami person is really someone else and is letting out hostility. I'm looking to the future and it's out of sight, only in the end shall I take flight.

Minnieted, the old quote, "Pretty is as pretty does" can be adapted and applicable to intelligence. Like the Vietnam vets, the truly intelligent are the ones that say the least, and they know or did the most. The real "BRAINS" are the quietest in my experience. They are so secure in their brilliance that it exudes from their presence.....they don't have to say a word. In this case, silence or refusal to be combative is preferable to verbal jousting.

ok guys I cant stand the silence! LMAO its deafening! here's my case... I took ami's side cos I thought (willy thinks I'm blonde go figure!) she was being truthful about asking minnieted (btw I didnt know who was talkin here ya know?) what this blog meant. so was I. I thought it was an offshoot from another blog and y'all were just being too upset over it without giving us some background info on it ok? to lambast someone whom I thought was merely asking for an explanation to my idea is cruel...to wit: Minnieted replies on 8/27/2008 5:47 pm: a truly intelligent person would understand what is being said or they would keep their mouth shut. You don't sound very cerebral to me. TSK TSK TSK!! So the original post wasn't written in Harvard English! So what? At least Minnie has the courage to write, and isn't buried in shyness, or self-pity because of the lack of perfect English. As an alter-ego, perfectionist responder, Ms. Ami, whoever he/she is, takes it upon her/himself (pictures can be deceiving) to be critical of a person who admits English is a second language, when Ms. Ami, whoever he/she is, misspells; makes structural and grammatical errors in various posts. Few people speak or write in perfect English, including those who have graduated from colleges and universities. I know quite a number of so-called educated people, who butcher the English language on an hourly basis. Do I correct them? Absolutely not. It's a good way to lose friends and fail to influence people. I do correct my grand-kids, when necessary, and SOMETIMES,(very carefully), my grown children. Ms/Mr. AMI, if you want to correct, or express an opinion about the spoken and written English of others, get your degrees in English and Education and become a teacher, where your opinion may, or may not, count with your students. It would be a humbling experience for one who desperately needs it.

Lol...I speak two languages...English and Modern Scots . I never considered modern Scots a separate language till recently, it's really only a dialect. When I posted a couple of stories about my childhood, some folk couldn't understand them, so probably they would have the same problem if I spoke it. Just as well I'm able to make myself clear in standard English! MinnieTed...I enjoy your blogs, this one's turned a wee bit lively with the mentally challenged kid, poor thing. Amazing she could criticise your language skills after her blog disgustingly ignorant the other day! What a fool...ignore her and sh'll get bored and go back to school and learn something.
