Written in 1957 by folk singer Ewan MacColl.

Roberta Flack does an amazing rendition!

Yep.. Roberta did a good job but so did Gordon Lightfoot...

OK...so who does this song remind me of?
Any man want to volunteer???
Making new memories...not making war

I'm looking to the future and it's out of sight,
only in the end shall I take flight.

Yes Roberta Flack did a fantastic rendition of this song! May I suggest that you check out Celine Dion's version of this song also!

Mission: OK it does bring back memories of the first girl I ever really wanted to date! Her name was Linda Lee! And was I ever head over heels with her but she hardly even noticed I existed.until one day out of the blue she asked me to kiss her! I couldn't do it! A few years later I read an explanation of the difference between love and infatuation. I was definitely infatuated with Linda! But Now I laugh at how hard I tried to get her to pay some attention to me and when she finally did I lost interest! But it was fun trying!..LOL!!

I'm familiar with the Gordon Lightfoot version.

BTW, read the blog guidelines...you aren't supposed to post non-original material--especially if you don't give credit to the original author.

WoW!

This just made my heart jump!

I need to change this--line--

The first time ever I saw your face, your face,--to

The first time ever I touch your face, your face,

Gosh now I'm all emotional and have to go listen to the song--

Thanks!

TxPegasus, glad you supplied the attribution. Why is this not always a given? Can google to get the information if one does not know. Or perhaps one is hoping to take the credit for themself? Just bothers me - am old fashioned I guess.

回复 granny witch...lol

A lot of singers sing this song so no need to put them here, any way this is not an advertisement, It's only a blog, quoted to original. Mind your own business!

Do you sing this as you sit on your broomstick roaming the skies with nowhere to go, hahahahaha, you are a beaut.
