I consider the heart to be the very core of our being, if we COULD see into each other's hearts and see what lies at the core, we would all be able to understand each other much better.

Alfie...

It only takes a drop of ink to make a million people think. There are many stories.

it is difficult in a world where any observed vulnerability is used as a weapon against us. Although we come from different ends of the spectrum we both know first hand what can come from being open about even one thing about us, our spirituality.

I use my sister's favorite quote often "Do not mistake my kindness for weakness". Unfortunately many push the limits until we show our strength. Even the microcosm of SFF is a good example. Although not frequent we have both been pounced on becasue we offer some kind words to someone others do not like and are intent on humiliating.

In the real world I have no problem displaying my kindness and gentleness, but I wouldnt show my vulnerability in here. Some words and comments can hurt and I dont need them.

Well said Pat. Too often we don't look beyond what is in front of us. We have to look for the good which comes from the heart. I think we tend to judge before we look further and into the heart. Certainly something to think about.

"I do believe, as does every spiritual concept recorded, that there are evil spirits"
maisie,

Obviously people here agree with you....we all know one or two evil spirits..don't we?

"There is no concrete good and concrete bad, just opinion. And that is why the world is becoming more and more dangerous."
maisie...

Have you seen my driveway? I know it's dangerous.

Anyway, what I have come to learn is that one person's evil spirit, can be another person's hero. You may think what I have learned is full of potholes, but then again you've seen my driveway.

Hearts are vulnerable, that's why we mostly keep it protected, otherwise the malicious would destroy it as they often try to do. You have to trust to let someone in. When it goes wrong, you then have to be strong to let someone in or close up, depends on each individual.

Judgment Day will be interesting - and all paths lead there.

Well. obviously there are evil acts, what I was questioning was Maisie's comments about evil......assuming that her concept of evil was a fact and that everyone agreed with it. Her idea that evil is an actual entity with a will of it's own is an opinion. an abstraction. a subjective notion, yet she uses the word as if her belief is accepted reality"

Lulu... this concept is too hard for some people to understand.

Maisie talks of the evils of relative morality
Mrsjoe talks about the moral compass.

We certainly don't need to debate if Maisie's and Mrsjoe morality needs to be changed. We accept that Maisie morality is concrete and that mrsjoe morality always finds North.

To maisie it's too hard for her to accept that my morality has potholes
and mrsjoe can't accept that North isn't always North. They cannot see that good and evil are relative terms and that's okay for them. I find it disheartening that they believe good and evil as relative terms is not good for the rest of us.

It's certainly not a far cry for someone who believes good and evil are finite truths, to turn an evil act into an evil person. Then they argue the merits of whether or not that act was evil, and never consider the argument of whether or not the person is evil. Because to them the act is the person.

mrsjoe,

No one wants you to change, no one finds fault in what you believe.
But your belief that everyone would be better off if they also believed as you do is what's in question.
I had not intended to throw you in with Maisie, but to show more the opposite ends, and how those opposite ends can have the same result.
it is hard to go against something you believe in, when the actions of those beliefs are disagreeable. I know you shy away from that, don't get involved.
I think it's conservative like you that need to step forward. Your moral compass needs to stay north. Even if, in the appearance of others, it would seem to diminish your belief.

MrsJoe, how wonderful is this post. You are really a thoughtful and wise Lady. IF... one another try to understand and have a bit of tolerance, not hold any grudge, not engender any offensive utterances and abuse, then everything would be joyful, friendly and pleasurable.
IF.....one could see what's really in the heart of the other, one would be able to avoid hurting the other, which in return creates retort, challenges and clashes. IF.. we could clear up any dark feelings and sentiments in our heart, it would great to live in peace. But....it may be hard for one another, we just have to try.
Thank you so much for this blog MrsJoe, it is well appreciated.
God bless you.
Lisa.
