Honesty best covers for all the above, and they all compliment another.

Honesty has always to be first because all the other parameters will be determined by honesty. We cannot "know" another unless we "know" ourselves and are willing to share that openly with the object of our affections. Then there are choices to be made; without honesty the choices will lead to disappointment and destruction of the relationship.

Honesty always seems to get me into a lot of trouble, I'm trying to tell more lies.

Since I could not vote for all of them, honesty is #1.

Hi Goodtime: Good question. Some of the big ones for me are chemistry, loyalty, commitment, respect, caring......too many things to mention.

Bike.

You can say that again.....that again!

People only want the honesty they want to hear.

Oh honey please be honest with me......

Ok... I want someone who isn't so fat, isn't so smart, and isn't so old, and can lie to me! LMAO

HONESTY and caring are necessary but so is a great sense of humor!
As one ages, we need to be able to laugh more often. (Too much of the time we might be crying in pain..physical and mental pain).

Big difference between brutal honesty, and tactful honesty.

Mostly, like rus..I want to be able to trust someone to not hurt me financialy, physicaly, or emotionaly.

All of them plus trust and communication.

Most important to me is having enough gas in the Oldsmobile to get to Makeout Point..... and with today's prices - and my paltry Social Security check - that's getting more and more difficult.... not to mention the escalating price of a box of wine.....

There certainly is a big diff between the two. Tactful honesty is when you say something the other person wants to hear.

Honey, does this dress make me look fat?

A. Yeah lard ass. (brutal honesty)

B. Well, it's not the most flattering thing I've seen on you..why don't you try something else? (tactful honesty)

Honesty requires sound judgment when expressed! BRUTAL is blindly cruel and unkind; TACTFUL is thoughtful and caring!

Caring seems to cover everything except good conversation and humor but I've known of many people who were great conversationalists and/or very humorous who made their significant others miserable by not being a caring person. I think that caring would also cover the difference between brutal honesty and tactful (or caring) honesty. All of the choices are important but most of them require caring to be applicable to a relationship.
