Now this is my first attempt, at a political type blog. So here it goes!!!!
I just read a blog on gas prices, and someone actually said that thought that gas prices were reasonable. Now I dont know what fantasy they are living in, but our econmoy is going down the tubes. Now except for my 8 years in the Marines, I have spent most of my adult life, in the restaraunt business, in one form or another. I have been at my current job for 13 years, and we have always been busy. WIth our current gas prices, people cant afford to eat out as much. Also, the ones that do come outdont tip, which is hurting the waitstaff, which depends on tips to make a living. Now I heard that several big companies are going to do a massive layoff. Something needs to be done, but I dont see anyone in the current administration doing anything. We all know about the Presidents so called tax rebate. Lets see who gets one. The last time he gave one, I know I didnt get one, and I am pretty much low income. So lets see, if anyone has any suggetions, that we can send to Mr Bush, so that we can turn things around. I was talking to my Health Care Provider at the VA Hospital, and I was telling her, that I didnt know what I would do when she retires, and she told me, that she probably wont be able to retire. What do we have to do, to make things right again in this country. Now I know alot of people on here dont care for Hillary, but I would sooner she her in the Oval Office as opposed to MCCain or Obama.

Good blog, Elvis, it is really sad. I don't remember ever being worried about our country's condition. Now, I'm really worried....not so much for me, but for my children and grandchildren.

Something needs to be done, but I'm not expecting a quick cure. I just hope our economy turns around soon.

I had my taxes done today and I am getting the Presidents Economic Suplement check in the amount of $600 which I will use to come to nashville in August for the bash!

so Elvis 8 years in the Corps? How come you got out, medical? .....anyway you served you country Semper Fi my friend. I see things a lot different than you do thats all. President Bush inherited a recession when he took office. Had to contend with 9/11 economic downturn, and yet because of his policies, tax cuts and rebates the economy rebounded more than anyone could have imagined. The economy has slowed since Jan but it still is not all that bad......The President has little to do with the price of crude. I have full faith and confidence in our President he is a man of principle and honor. I don't want change. I don't want higher taxes, I don't want another government program, I don't want to wave the white flag, I want our military to be strong, I don't want Al Qeada in America, I don't want some liberal telling me I'm not doing enough for the "poor", I don't want any more promises, I don't want to be pandered to. I don't want to turn this country whose strength is the individual over to a socialist who believes it takes a village, and another who thumbs his nose at the American way of life.........You did a good job Elvis you managed to get me going.......

Elvis, Nice writing. They say silence is golden and it was proven the other night when the oil executives were reminded of the billions of dollars in profit they had received (or as I like to say swindled the American people); at that time they were asked if they had ever considered lowering the price of gasoline...there was dead silence! I believe we are victims being taken advantage of on a daily basis. All three potential Presidental candidates have full closets..tough to decide which will be the lesser evil.

Good Blog! I agree things are in a mess. This is the worst I have seen our country, since I have been around. Whoever is elected President will be inheriting a mess. I do not see how things can possibly change for the better anytime soon.
Speaking of gas.....did you hear on the local news that they except gas to reach $4 during August?
elvis3700 replies on 4/6/2008 2:52 am: Yes, I have heard that. |

Elvis,
Yes, this country is in a terrible mess, one that will take more than 4 years to straighten out.
It hasn't JUST been in the past year, it just has really begun to impact us this year. No jobs, everything increasing except wages, and the rich keep getting richer and the poor getting poorer.
Great blog!

Contary to some of the remarks I've just read...we need change...A leader that cares about the economy of our people, the health of our people and the future of our offsprings...not their own wallet and their bulge of deceit...
I cry when I think of us becoming a third world country..
Elvis, I follow your train of thought...great blog...keep bloging...LadyLu

This is part of the "making us competitive with China". Boycot Wal-Mart. The few cents you save on their merchandise is costing us dearly in other ways. Anyone who shops at Wal-mart is supporting China, not America. And China will poison our pets and our kids with their junk products.
We have been very fortunate in America. Gas has always been cheap here. It was not cheap in other countries. This is part of globalization. America was on the top. We had to slip down to join the 3rd world nations we are 'globalizing' with. Thanks alot President BUSHit.

Phoenix it was hard being a Marine and its hard being a voice of sanity among these liberal moonbats who are forever disrespecting this country and President. In fact it sickens me that they are allowed to even vote. With their constant drumbeat of downing America why dont they pack up and go to Cuba where they can live in socialist heaven and raise their grandchildren to be little moonbats. Cuba will give them all the "Change" they want......

In response to Phoenix-----The following is an exert from an article posted April 2, 2006 by America's Leading Historians Assesses George W. Bush. Historians are now wondering whether Bush, in fact, will be remembered as the very worst president in all of American history.
How does any president's reputation sink so low? The reasons are best understood as the reverse of those that produce presidential greatness. In almost every survey of historians dating back to the 1940s, three presidents have emerged as supreme successes: George Washington, Abraham Lincoln and Franklin D. Roosevelt. These were the men who guided the nation through what historians consider its greatest crises: the founding era after the ratification of the Constitution, the Civil War, and the Great Depression and Second World War. Presented with arduous, at times seemingly impossible circumstances, they rallied the nation, governed brilliantly and left the republic more secure than when they entered office.
Calamitous presidents, faced with enormous difficulties -- Buchanan, Andrew Johnson, Hoover and now Bush -- have divided the nation, governed erratically and left the nation worse off. In each case, different factors contributed to the failure: disastrous domestic policies, foreign-policy blunders and military setbacks, executive misconduct, crises of credibility and public trust. Bush, however, is one of the rarities in presidential history: He has not only stumbled badly in every one of these key areas, he has also displayed a weakness common among the greatest presidential failures -- an unswerving adherence to a simplistic ideology that abjures deviation from dogma as heresy, thus preventing any pragmatic adjustment to changing realities. Repeatedly, Bush has undone himself, a failing revealed in each major area of presidential performance.
Previous modern presidents, including Truman, Reagan and Clinton, managed to reverse plummeting ratings and regain the public's trust by shifting attention away from political and policy setbacks, and by overhauling the White House's inner circles. But Bush's publicly expressed view that he has made no major mistakes, coupled with what even the conservative commentator William F. Buckley Jr. calls his "high-flown pronouncements" about failed policies, seems to foreclose the first option.
I guess I am not the only one that feels the way I do.

SportsLady....I find it interesting that you include Clinton with Presidents Truman and Reagan. 2 men of unquestioned patriotism and integrity with the most immoral man ever to sit in the oval office. These "History" experts you refer have cited 3 with the possible exception of Washington as supreme were actually more criticized than President Bush is now. President Bush is very much like Lincoln. Roosevelt was on the brink of economic failure when WW2 saved his Presidency. You continue to believe what you are told by President Bush's detractors and fall right in to their nonsense. That is your right as American, they did it back then and they are doing it now......Andrew Johnson wanted to continue Lincoln's policy of reconciliation to the South, Buchanan as s strict Constitutionalists, he hesitated to the point of avoiding decisions that might precipitate trouble for him. Right or wrong President Bush is a decision maker not avoider. Herbert Hoover was no match for a World Wide economic disturbance. The stock market crashed because of over speculation not by anything Hoover did. He took steps to reverse this trend appointed special commissions but as usual people look to the party in power instead of the problem and he was defeated in his bid for re-election......I believe all Presidents have brought something to the table and each provided a flavor that has made America great. Including President Bush......Based on our history of revering Presidents with bad approval ratings, I predict history will regard President Bush if not in the top 10 at the very least close to it....

It is interesting to note after reading all of the above that the president, who I admit I have no love for is being castigated. People think a bit. We have a congress and a senate and they are doing absolutely nothing. Give them a little credit. They let in millions of illegal aliens who we are supporting, some are receiving social security. This congress also wants to give them amnesty. They are allowing jobs to be outsourced. Look in on CNN and listen to Lou Dobbs. Then they formed, during the Clinton administration that Mickey Mouse treaty for free export and import. Also the illegals are sending billions of dollars to Mexico. They want to change Social Security. Seniors be aware, they used the Social Security money for their pork fat give aways and now the fund is aching. All in all the president has company in his stupidity. Just my humble opinion. kaycee4

Rick A very well writen and interesting blog. I can't disagree with any thing except maybe Hillary for president. She may be the best except there's not much to choose from in the first place, and I could list issues that are not good in the party she runs under. She is a very experienced canidate, having been in the White House already. I just hope the Lord is in charge (Which he is) and the one gets in that blesses this country. It will be interesting to see what the final outcome will be in the general election. Our country is in a mess finacially and with the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. I hold the present administration responsible for this. anamh in AZ.

I disagree heartedly with Mr. Anamh. Hilary for president bah humbug. Where is this experience that you talk about? Yeah plenty of experience turning a blind eye to her husband's infidelity while in the White House. Being a president's wife does not give a person experience. There were plenty of scandals during the Clinton Administration of which a lot of people have turned a blind eye. This woman is power hungry and is an empty person. Our country needs someone with heart for the people who are suffering now. When we cast our vote this time, we should think long and hard on every issue.
